TV-Series
Description
Matarō Tamada is a first-year student at Y-Academy, admitted through the academic scholarship criteria. He has always been exceptionally lucky, which played a part in his acceptance to the elite school. He wears round glasses and has a distinctive hairstyle often compared to an onion. Since childhood, he has been an avid fan of special effects heroes, particularly the series Shining Boy, and he founded the Special Effects Hero Club at the academy, though he is its only member. He is a member of the YSP Club, where he frequently serves as the voice of reason and provides calm, analytical observations during the group's investigations.

Tamada's personality is generally unassuming and mild-mannered, but he becomes intensely passionate and animated whenever the topic of heroes arises. He possesses a strong sense of justice and a genuine desire to help others, though he can be timid in unfamiliar situations. His primary motivation stems from his grandfather's words, which encouraged him that hard work could make him the greatest hero in the universe, and he strives to live up to that ideal.

In the story, Tamada initially lacks YSP powers and cannot see yo-kai or vengeful spirits, but he gradually develops a latent ability to sense danger. His role expands when he acquires the Shining Watch, created by Kuka Nanakumo, allowing him to transform into Shining Boy, a hero that embodies his childhood dreams. Later, he obtains the UR Watch GAI, which he uses to become Tīdain, and after overcoming the will of the alien Tīdasu who resides within him, he awakens as Last Tīdain, a form that enables him to protect his friends in critical moments. He also gains the ability to absorb and control the immense negative energy of the rampaging vengeful spirit known as Sora naki, becoming MT Bouncer. Despite these powers, he remains fundamentally an ordinary human who relies on determination and courage.

Tamada has a close friendship with Jinpei Jiba and Sandayu Koma, who are his primary companions in the YSP Club. He harbors a crush on Fubuki Himekawa, though his feelings are largely unreciprocated. His relationship with the alien Tīdasu is complex, as Tīdasu initially guides him but later tests his will, ultimately allowing Tamada to assert his own heroism. Throughout the series, Tamada develops from a powerless, luck-dependent student into a confident hero who controls great power with a pure heart. Key milestones include his first transformation, his struggle to master the UR Watch GAI, and his victory over Tīdasu's influence.

His notable abilities include his precognitive danger sense, his analytical mind for solving mysteries, and his multiple transformation forms: Shining Boy (a tokusatsu-style hero), Tīdain and Last Tīdain (powerful combat forms using Gaia energy), and MT Bouncer (a form that channels negative energy into controlled strength). His transformations are tied to the Shining Watch and UR Watch GAI, and he can also access a form through the Shining Watch that temporarily boosts his power. Despite lacking innate yo-kai abilities, his growth highlights the theme that ordinary determination can achieve heroic feats.
