Description
Chōhi Yokutoku, originally named Rinrin, endured a tragic childhood when bandits killed her parents. Raised by her grandfather until his death, she faced profound loneliness and formed the "Rinrin Bandits" with village children. Their escalating pranks led to her impending arrest until Kan'u intervened during a confrontation. Sharing the pain of familial loss, Kan'u fought her in a lengthy battle before Rinrin’s emotional breakdown revealed her isolation. Kan'u stayed the night, forging a vow of sisterhood—later prone to misunderstandings due to its intimate context. Rinrin then joined Kan'u’s journey, adopting "Yokutoku" as her courtesy name and becoming a devoted companion.
Diminutive with red hair and violet eyes, she typically wears a crop top, spats, and fingerless gloves, adorned by a tiger-shaped hairpin reflecting her expressions. She rarely wears shoes. Her personality blends exuberant cheerfulness, fierce loyalty, and tomboyishness, often speaking in third person with the verbal tic "nano-da." Beneath her energetic exterior lies deep fragility from past trauma. She displays intense devotion to Kan'u, seeking lap pillows and openly declaring their bond—even claiming to be the "seme" during a Kōson castle visit. Naïve about romance and sexuality, she causes unintentional comedy through anatomical misunderstandings or oblivious invitations like skinny-dipping. Her innocence evolves as she develops romantic feelings, consulting others on womanhood and occasionally wearing dresses for femininity.
In combat, she wields a massive spear with exceptional skill, favoring slashes over thrusts and leveraging surprising strength to overpower foes—hurling multiple enemies airborne or lifting battering rams single-handedly even while ill. Leading the Rinrin Bandits honed her trap-making and guerrilla tactics, later used to capture foes like Moukaku. She rides horses (or a pig in the anime) and commands troops effectively. Weaknesses include low intelligence, illiteracy, impatience, and overreliance on brute strength, leaving her vulnerable to skilled fighters. Illnesses like colds cripple her, and she is excluded from strategy councils with Bachou due to poor planning skills.
Her character evolves across media: deepening her sisterhood with Kan'u, she initially opposes Ryūbi as a second sister but accepts her as another older sibling. Later seasons show protectiveness beyond Kan'u, such as aiding Shuri. Visual novels depict romantic development where her feelings for Kazuto shift from familial to romantic, driving efforts to enhance her appeal. Recurring comedy includes mistaking wild animals for childhood pets—triggering dangerous chases—and sharing a huge appetite with Bachou, Kyocho, and Ryofu. Trivia notes her expressive tiger hairpin, habitual bare feet, and grouping with Bachou as ineffective council members.
