Description
Doppo Kannonzaka works as an office employee for E.L. Medical Co., Ltd., a medical equipment manufacturer. His workplace subjects him to extreme demands, relentless overtime, holiday shifts, and persistent harassment from his manager "Baldy," who inflicts power harassment and unreasonable orders. This environment severely deteriorates his mental health, causing chronic stress and exhaustion.

Since childhood, Doppo endured loneliness and difficulty forming friendships, maintaining only Hifumi Izanami as his companion from elementary school onward. In high school, they befriended Honobono Keitoin, becoming a close trio. An unspecified incident involving Honobono triggered Hifumi’s gynophobia (fear of women), straining their friendship with her, though details remain unclear.

At age 22, Doppo helped Hifumi join his company. Hifumi’s phobia-induced avoidance of female colleagues drew ridicule from manager Yamadori. Doppo routinely defended Hifumi by explaining the trauma behind his fear, but both became targets of mockery. During a company outing to a hostess bar, Yamadori deliberately exposed Hifumi’s phobia to the establishment, causing him severe distress and flight. Witnessing subsequent derogatory remarks about Hifumi, Doppo violently punched Yamadori, publicly denounced the harassment, and quit immediately.

Afterward, Hifumi became a host to confront his phobia, while Doppo secured a sales role at E.L. Medical. They began sharing an apartment, preserving their lifelong bond. Doppo’s worsening mental state from workplace stress led him to seek counseling from Jakurai Jinguji, a doctor at Shinjuku Central Hospital. During this period, police officer Jyuto Iruma interrogated Doppo for unspecified reasons; Doppo perceived him as corrupt and intimidating.

The rap group Matenro, representing Shinjuku Division, formed after Hifumi faced danger from an obsessive stalker. Doppo enlisted Jakurai’s help to resolve the situation. Following Jakurai’s intervention, he proposed forming a rap group with Doppo and Hifumi, establishing Matenro. Doppo deeply trusts Jakurai, seeing him as the group’s stabilizing force.

Physically, Doppo has rust-red hair with cyan undersides in a messy wolf cut, heavy dark circles under grey-teal eyes, and typically wears a midnight blue pinstripe suit, teal-green patterned tie, and an amaranth red lanyard holding his employee ID (ELM-35720). His Hypnosis Mic resembles a dark blue flip phone, and his speakers reside in a metallic briefcase adorned with monitors displaying the Matenro logo, encircled by floating documents and pills.

Personality-wise, Doppo exhibits profound pessimism, anxiety, and self-blame, often spiraling into negativity under stress. He avoids attention and fears judgment but displays fiercely protective loyalty toward loved ones, especially Hifumi. Despite a meek demeanor, he unleashes explosive resolve when defending others. His work dedication borders on self-destruction, frequently causing overexertion.

His rap ability "Berserker" unleashes uncontrollable offensive power at the cost of severe mental and physical depletion. Initially withheld due to exhaustion, it was later deployed in critical battles.

Trivia notes: His signature quote derives from Friedrich Nietzsche’s "The Dawn of Day." His Hypnosis Mic activation in the anime involves dialing "36776" (matching "DOPPO" on a telephone keypad). He cross-dressed as a nurse for a work event and analogized his existence to a dairy cow—born to be exploited until useless. He habitually clutches objects like pillows while sleeping.
