Description
Tatara Totsuka, born February 14, 1990, was abandoned in a park as a child and adopted. After his adoptive mother left, he endured poverty with his gambling-addicted father, foraging wild plants to survive. His father deemed him "cold-hearted" due to emotional detachment, a trait lasting until his father's death. By middle school, he met Mikoto Suoh and Izumo Kusanagi, forging a lifelong bond. At age 10, a mysterious lakeside man prophesied he would meet his King, shaping his outlook. Three years later, after crashing his bicycle into Mikoto, he instantly recognized Mikoto as his destined King, calling him "King" years before Mikoto officially became the Red King.

He displayed a calm, optimistic, and friendly personality, readily talking to strangers. Despite his generally kind nature, he occasionally revealed a twisted humor, laughing at others' misfortunes or fleeing danger, like abandoning Yō Chitose during an attack. His catchphrase was, "It’s fine, it’s fine! Things will work out somehow!" His youthful emotional detachment evolved into deep loyalty to Homra, particularly towards Mikoto and later Anna Kushina, whom he affectionately called "the only girl he has eyes for," showing no interest in romance.

A founding Homra member, joining in 2007 at age 17, he was key to integrating newcomers like Shōhei Akagi and mediating conflicts, such as reconciling Akagi and Saburouta Bandō. He handled clan initiations and recorded new members' meetings with his vintage Nikon 8mm camera, valuing memory preservation. His aura abilities, unsuited for combat, enabled precise tasks like melting locks or creating flame constructs like phoenixes or butterflies to entertain Anna. These efforts exhausted him, earning him the titles "Homra’s weakest executive" and "the beast tamer" for his unique skill in soothing Mikoto’s volatile powers. His insignia was on his left shoulder blade.

He pursued many hobbies but abandoned most, except photography. He enjoyed experimental cooking, skateboarding (unsuccessfully), bonsai cultivation, and music. He composed and performed "Circle of Friends" for Homra and tried teaching guitar to Misaki Yata. He often organized group activities like fishing or harvest festivals. His filming habit extended to documenting the city at night, seeking users of the "Candle" app to hear their stories. He disliked umbrellas and preferred walking in the rain.

On December 8, 2012, while filming atop a building, he was shot in the chest by the Colorless King. He survived roughly twenty minutes, fighting blood loss, and died in Yata’s arms. His final moments included a psychic connection with Anna. His camera recorded the murder, providing crucial evidence for Homra’s investigation. His death was orchestrated by Nagare Hisui as part of a larger scheme. After cremation on a beach visited by Homra, his killing ignited a chain of events, including Mikoto’s vengeful rampage and death. Totsuka’s absence left a lasting void in Homra, with Anna inheriting Mikoto’s role as Red King and members like Yata deeply affected.
