Description
Kenichi Mitsuba, an eleven-year-old student at a local comprehensive school, lives with his parents, Kentaro and Taeko Mitsuba. Though they care for him, they frequently admonish his poor academic performance. He has an unnamed uncle and forms close familial bonds with ninja brothers Kanzo and Shinzo Hattori after Kanzo appears at his window during a ninja movie, becoming his foster brothers. His gluttonous pet dog, Shishimaru, lives with the family and occasionally annoys Kenichi; their friendship once included cohabitation in a giant pipe.
Slim and tall, Kenichi has a round face, pale skin, small black eyes, and black hair with three forehead fringes. He wears rounded square glasses with a flat top. His typical attire is a sky-blue long-sleeved T-shirt with red-and-yellow stripes, dark green shorts, white underpants, and light blue shoes, complemented outdoors by a white cap bearing a blue "K."
Academically struggling, lazy, and prone to seeking shortcuts, Kenichi displays clumsiness—often experiencing pants-pulling incidents that expose his underwear—alongside insecurity and low confidence.
