Movie
Description
Kenichi Mitsuba is an eleven-year-old Tokyo student with a slim build, round face, small black eyes, pale skin, black hair featuring three fringes, and distinctive square glasses. His typical outfit includes a sky-blue long-sleeved T-shirt with red-and-yellow stripes, dark green shorts, white underpants, light blue shoes, and outdoors, a white cap bearing a blue "K".

Academically, Kenichi consistently earns low marks. He displays laziness, avoiding study and homework while seeking shortcuts through trickery or relying on others. His stubbornness and disregard for parental or teacher advice often lead him into trouble. Despite these flaws, he possesses a fundamentally good nature, willingly helping those in need and demonstrating loyalty to friends. He struggles with insecurity and lacks confidence, especially in academics and athletics, though he occasionally reveals hidden depths, such as performing ninja techniques when sufficiently motivated.

Kenichi lives with his caring parents, Kentaro and Taeko Mitsuba, who frequently reprimand him over his school failures. His life changes dramatically after meeting Kanzo Hattori, a young ninja from Iga who becomes his foster brother, moving in alongside Hattori's biological brother Shinzo and their ninja dog, Shishimaru. This forms Kenichi's core family dynamic. He develops a close bond with Hattori, often relying on him for help with personal or academic challenges, though their friendship sometimes suffers misunderstandings fueled by rivals. Shinzo, an apprentice ninja occasionally joining Shishimaru in mischief, provides additional support. Kenichi maintains a complex relationship with Shishimaru, initially finding the dog annoying due to his gluttony but eventually considering him a close companion after sharing living quarters in a giant pipe.

Kenichi actively pursues his primary romantic interest, classmate Yumeko Kawai, whom he ultimately marries. This pursuit fuels a fierce rivalry with Kemuzou Kemumaki, a Koga ninja posing as a normal student. Kemumaki frequently bullies Kenichi, often humiliating him by pulling down his pants to expose his white underpants. Their conflicts typically revolve around winning Yumeko's affection, though they occasionally collaborate to solve larger problems.

In the crossover film "Ninja Hattori-kun + Perman: Chō-Nōryoku Wars", Kenichi witnesses the psychic girl Yuri fleeing masked men while flying remote-controlled planes near a stream with Kemumaki and Yumeko. He attempts to protect Yuri but becomes a target himself, prompting Hattori's intervention. After Yuri is sheltered by the Mitsuba family, Kenichi participates in efforts to aid her, including a psychic demonstration on television where an x-ray of his mind reveals an image of him being kissed by both Yuri and Yumeko. When Yuri, Shinzo, and Shishimaru are abducted and flown to New York, Kenichi persistently seeks his parents' permission to join the rescue mission, successfully relying on Hattori's persuasion. He contributes to infiltrating the antagonist Psychoman's New York headquarters and participates in the final battle, leading to the antagonists' defeat and the rescue.

Beyond academics, Kenichi works as a paperboy and serves as a photographer for his school magazine, showing some aptitude in photography despite occasional poor results. He also exhibits unexpected mechanical skill, competently designing and repairing machines. His dislikes include carrots, tomatoes, and situations involving humiliation or embarrassment, such as having his pants removed against his will.
