ONA
Description
Isamu Takahashi is a student at Egaogaoka Middle School who appears as a supporting character in Seizei Gambare Mahō Shōjo Kurumi. He is part of a trio of male classmates that includes Kiyoshi Suzuki and Shigeru Satou, and the group's primary function within the story is to serve as observers of the magical girls known as the Prima Angels. Their classmate Kurumi Azuchimomoyama, who transforms into Prima Pink, is one of the magical girls they regularly watch.
Isamu has a loud and boisterous personality. He openly expresses a strong interest in ecchi elements, often shouting comments that are admiring in a shamelessly pervy way, specifically focusing on the magical girls' physical attractiveness. This tendency leads him to dismiss or overlook the more absurd or violent aspects of the magical girls' actions as long as he finds the girls visually appealing. Physically, he is identifiable by his typical red clothing and has scruffy brown hair with dark eyes.
His role in the narrative is largely that of a spectator. He and his friends provide ongoing, exaggeratedly positive commentary on the battles between the Prima Angels and their antagonists, an organization called the Darkness Whales. Despite his admiration for the magical girls, Isamu does not participate in their missions or offer them direct assistance.
Motivation for his actions seems to stem from personal interest rather than heroic intent. He frequently becomes a direct victim of the Darkness Whales, sometimes being captured or targeted by the enemy. In a notable incident, he was subjected to brainwashing that made him hate the Prima Angels, temporarily turning him against the very heroes he admired as a fan. This event highlights his vulnerability to manipulation.
Isamu does not undergo substantial character development over the course of the series. His interactions and narrative role remain consistent, focused on his school life and his function as an uninvolved bystander to the main conflict. His key relationships are with his two friends in the observer trio. Together, they witness the magical girls' battles, with Isamu often contributing the most exaggerated reactions. His primary notable characteristic is his presence as part of this comedic commentary trio, whose antics occasionally lead them to suffer direct consequences from the antagonists.
