Description
Mikoto Suoh was raised by his grandfather following the loss of his parents. A month after the Kagutsu Crater Incident, his grandfather took him to the submerged crater site, where Mikoto briefly saw a boy in a straw hat. During high school, he met Izumo Kusanagi and formed a close friendship, frequently visiting Kusanagi's bar, HOMRA. Around age 15, he encountered Tatara Totsuka after Totsuka was hospitalized from a beating, initiating their significant relationship.

At 18, Mikoto became the Red King during a confrontation with the Strain "Earless Mitsuha." Thrown through a window, he connected with the Dresden Slate and awakened as the Third King. He instantly extended his aura to Kusanagi and Totsuka, establishing HOMRA's core. Despite his title, Mikoto questioned his role as King and rejected its responsibilities. He maintained a lazy, apathetic exterior, often sleeping or smoking, yet held a reputation as the most violently tempered King.

Mikoto fiercely protected HOMRA members like family. He initiated recruits such as Shōhei Akagi by igniting their hands, demanding they withstand his flames without flinching. His leadership operated on instinct, embodied by his battle cry: "No blood! No bone! No ash!" He held a particular soft spot for children, especially Anna Kushina, whom he protected after her aunt's memory erasure. Due to her color blindness, Anna perceived his "red aura" as uniquely warm.

Totsuka's murder devastated Mikoto, triggering a vengeful rampage and accelerating the degeneration of his Sword of Damocles. He wore Totsuka's blood in a repierced ear as a tribute. Acknowledging his impending death, Mikoto pursued Totsuka's killer to force a final clash with Reisi Munakata, the Blue King. After killing the Colorless King, he accepted death calmly, telling Munakata: "Sorry... For making you do the dirty work..." Munakata executed him to prevent a Damocles Down event, which would have replicated the Kagutsu Crater disaster. Mikoto died 12 days after Totsuka, aged 24.

His death fractured HOMRA until Anna became the new Red King. She later recognized Munakata fulfilled Mikoto's wish to avert mass destruction. Mikoto's legacy endured through Anna's leadership and the unwavering loyalty of former clansmen.

Mikoto wielded pyrokinetic abilities through his Red Aura, manifesting shields, projecting fire waves ("Flame Slash"), and incinerating targets. His aura could split clock towers, create craters, and level forests. The Sword of Damocles symbolized his power's stability; its deterioration mirrored his emotional turmoil after Totsuka's death. Near the end, his aura charred his own body.

Impulsive, confrontational, and self-destructive, Mikoto avoided authority, responsibility, and societal rules, yet inspired deep loyalty. He rarely verbalized emotions but demonstrated care through actions, like rescuing endangered clansmen. His relationship with Totsuka was particularly close, described in supplementary materials as "special" and emotionally pivotal.
