Description
Hinoe is one of the Eight Guardians, known as the Hachiyo, who are sworn to protect the Priestess of the White Dragon. He holds the specific title of Ten no Suzaku, which translates to Suzaku of Heaven. His true name is Fujiwara no Tanzou, and he holds the powerful position of Kumano Bettou, the commander of the Kumano navy. He is a young man of seventeen years and stands one hundred seventy centimeters tall. His most distinguishing physical features are his red eyes and his shoulder-length red hair, which he wears with a small, distinctive braid. He also typically wears a bindi on his forehead and earrings.

In terms of personality, Hinoe is known to be bright, fearless, and easygoing. He possesses a level-headedness that allows him to assess and handle various situations calmly, belying his young age. He is a smooth talker and a known flirt, often using his charm and wit when interacting with others. He seems to take a particular interest in teasing the Priestess, Nozomi Kasuga, and enjoys making her blush. This lighthearted and flirtatious exterior, however, does not detract from his serious dedication to his role as a guardian.

Hinoe emerges as a mysterious figure, first appearing near the region of Kumano, where he seems to be connected to the local navy, which is later revealed to be his own command. His primary motivation, once he learns Nozomi is the White Dragon Priestess, is to fulfill his duty as one of her Eight Guardians. To this end, he allies himself with the Genji clan. Together with Nozomi and the other guardians, he fights against the Heike clan, who are unleashing vengeful spirits known as onryo upon the land. These spirits disrupt the natural energy and spread terror, and Hinoe helps the priestess seal them away to restore the power of the White Dragon God and bring stability back to their parallel world.

His role in the story of Owari Naki Unmei is firmly placed within the ongoing conflict of the Genpei War between the Genji and the Heike. As a supporter of the Genji, he is a key ally to Nozomi as she navigates the brutal war and faces critical choices, such as the dilemma between protecting her comrades or aligning with her childhood friend Masaomi, who leads the Heike forces. Hinoe consistently supports the priestess throughout these turbulent events, his commitment unwavering even as the complexities of the war deepen.

Regarding his relationships, his interactions with Nozomi Kasuga are central. He frequently flirts with her and teases her, and his interest in her grows after he learns she is the priestess. He fights alongside the other members of the Eight Guardians, though his specific dynamics with each guardian are not detailed. His background as Fujiwara no Tanzou, the Kumano Bettou, implies a position of significant authority and responsibility, suggesting he has strong ties to his men and the Kumano region. His development, while subtle, is reflected in his unwavering support for Nozomi, demonstrating that his initial flirtatious interest matures into a deep-seated loyalty and commitment to protecting her and fighting for her cause. In terms of notable abilities, as a guardian of the White Dragon Priestess, Hinoe fights alongside her to combat the vengeful onryo spirits. His role is that of a warrior dedicated to sealing these spirits and protecting the priestess in battle. His command of the Kumano navy also implies leadership and strategic skills.
