Description
Chobihige is a recurring spirit appearing as a small humanoid with a large head, a small mustache, and a mole between his eyebrows, dressed in a green kimono and red obi belt. His true form is a magnificent white dragon possessing elongated facial hair and beautiful scales, viewed by other spirits as symbols of good luck, especially during shedding season. Though his draconic nature fosters a sense of superiority, he maintains politeness towards humans and seeks their help when needed.

He harbors deep sentimentality, particularly for a treasured shell comb crafted long ago from a beautiful seashell; its eventual breakage caused him lasting sadness. He first approached Takashi Natsume concerning Taki, a human girl drawing spirit-attracting circles. During this encounter, he breached the protective barrier around Takashi's home, demonstrating significant spiritual power. After a spirit linked to Taki's curse injured Takashi, Chobihige stayed until the threat passed. Following this, he integrated as a regular member of the Dog's Circle, frequently attending their boisterous drinking sessions at the Fujiwara house. These visits sometimes coincided with timely interventions to protect Takashi from hostile spirits, though the group's rowdiness also contributed to Takashi's fatigue.

A pivotal moment occurred when Takashi and the Dog's Circle gifted him a sparkling dragon scale fragment. Unaware it originated from Chobihige himself, Takashi presented it. Deeply moved, Chobihige inquired if Takashi genuinely found it beautiful. Upon affirmation, he crafted a new comb from the scale. Transforming into his dragon form, he declared his intent to treasure this gift eternally, longer than his original shell comb, signifying a meaningful bond formed through the kindness.

His interactions with the Dog's Circle highlight his integration into their community despite initial haughtiness. He maintains a dynamic, often argumentative yet non-hostile relationship with Madara (Nyanko-sensei).
