Byakko serves as one of four guardian goddesses, embodying the White Tiger and safeguarding the western direction alongside Seiryuu the Dragon, Genbu the Turtle, and Suzaku the Phoenix. She aids the onmyōji Abe Seimei in the battle against the malevolent goddess Douma, who aims to conquer Japan by draining human life energy. Byakko exhibits strong protective instincts toward human detective Miyamoto Hiromasa, granting him a magical charm and displaying visible jealousy when he volunteers to rescue Seimei from a lust curse. She joins the other goddesses in initially confining Seimei’s curse-induced sexual frenzy within an energy barrier. After Seiryuu and Genbu depart to confront Douma directly, Byakko stays behind with Suzaku to stabilize the barrier, only to later leave for Douma’s Heaven Tower upon learning her fellow guardians were captured. Following the corruption and defeat of Seiryuu and Genbu by Douma’s forces, Byakko emerges as the sole surviving guardian goddess. The ultimate fates of Seimei and Miyamoto remain unresolved after their prolonged intimate encounter intended to break the curse. Byakko’s background, powers, and development exist solely within this narrative, with no additional appearances or expansions in other official media.
