Description
Ami Enan is the daughter of Enzo Bron, CEO of the IT conglomerate Shake Hanz Corporation, and Yuko Enan, a Japanese woman. Her parents divorced when she was very young, her mother gaining full custody. At age six, kidnappers seized Ami, intending to exploit her as a child model for pornography and ultimately sell her. This event triggered malicious rumors blaming Yuko, who subsequently committed suicide. During captivity, Ami revealed exceptional talent for computers and programming. She created a personal computer game to pass time, capturing her captors' attention. They exploited this skill for profit, forcing her to develop the dark web site Marco Polo and its payment system. She remained imprisoned until escaping at age fourteen, taking refuge in the server bank facility known as the Twin Towers. This isolation fostered deep wariness of the physical world, leading her to interact solely through the internet via her custom interface module, "Underworld".

Initially, Ami exhibited a cold, emotionally detached personality, communicating primarily through technology and consuming nutritional jojo jellies. Her hacking prowess and introversion hindered real-world connections. This changed when Lupin III, alongside associates Jigen and Goemon, tracked her down to obtain Marco Polo's passcodes. Recognizing Lupin's thieving abilities, she negotiated a deal: her assistance in robbing Marco Polo in exchange for him "stealing" her from the Twin Towers. After the heist succeeded, Marco Polo's administrators retaliated by placing a bounty on Lupin's life, sparking a global manhunt. Throughout this peril, Ami faced repeated dangers and sustained injuries, finding the excitement transformative. She gradually opened up emotionally, developing profound trust in Lupin as a guardian figure beyond their initial transaction.

Following Marco Polo's takedown, Ami enrolled in a girls' boarding school to experience normal life and build real-world relationships. Her continued reliance on hacking initially hindered social integration, leaving her an outsider. This changed when she befriended Dolma Sinha, crown princess of Padar, who appreciated Ami's eccentricities. Their bond deepened when terrorists from the "Whales of Liberation" occupied the school. Ami was singled out and placed in solitary confinement until Fujiko Mine rescued her. The two collaborated to liberate the school, though Dolma was later abducted by an American agent. Ami participated in multiple rescue missions for Dolma, including one where she aided an injured Lupin. During these events, she confessed romantic feelings for Lupin, though he viewed her more as a niece figure. Her declaration to Fujiko about considering her a "rival" underscored this unrequited affection.

Ami's backstory intersected with the broader narrative when she leveraged her parentage, confronting Enzo Bron during a crisis involving Lupin. She declared, "Get out here Enzo! You're the one who made PeopleLog, aren't you?! My name is Ami Enan, I am your daughter." This revelation forced Enzo into a confrontation where he aimed a gun at Lupin. Ami intervened, seizing the weapon and aiming it at her father. Though prepared to shoot, Lupin stopped her. After resolving the immediate threat and escaping, Ami chose to stay with Enzo, signaling a tentative reconciliation. She questioned the nature of Lupin's group; Enzo replied they were "heroes," prompting a rare smile from her. Inspector Zenigata later arranged for them to accompany him in a police helicopter, solidifying her departure from Lupin's world.

Symbolic moments reflected her internal change, such as submerging her head in water during a desert journey. Upon emerging, both her eyes were visible for the first time. Her worldview evolved, contrasting her earlier dismissal of school – "I see no reason to go to school... I have plenty of friends on the internet" – with her later pursuit of normalcy through education. Her relationship with Zenigata included moments of levity, teasing him: "Two lovers on opposite sides of the law... sounds like something out of a story," leaving him flustered. Online, she used the nickname "hedgehog girl," with a profile picture of a green-spiked hedgehog, maintaining minimal social engagement despite having 742 followers.
