Alfred Albert has chestnut brown hair, cerulean eyes, and an almond-shaped head. He wears a white exterior cape with blue trim and blue lining, a metal shoulder pad, dark brown bracers, and a white-and-blue outfit bearing the Hortensia symbol. His attire includes dark brown pants, brown boots, a belt, and a sword strapped to his left side.
Reticent and emotionally reserved, Alfred exhibits a calm and gentle personality. He holds a strong sense of justice, prioritizing the protection of his people and kingdom, and displays maturity in choosing his battles. His fundamental traits encompass nobility and pride, fitting conventional fantasy protagonist archetypes.
Alfred is the son of Fernando Albert, a Knight Templar of Hortensia who perished defending King Hortensia during Duke Rugis F. Camellia's rebellion. Inheriting lordship of the Albert domain, Alfred is joined by his uncle, Maurice Baudelaire, who resigns from the Royal Order to mentor Alfred and a youth named Marius (later revealed as Princess Mariel D'Hortensia in disguise). Marius serves as Alfred's squire during four years of training, with Alfred unaware of Marius's true identity.
Leading soldiers to the war's frontline at Erps Heights, Alfred finds the allied forces decimated. Confronted by Camellian Temple Knight Roy Bachelot, Alfred and Marius suffer swift defeat. Maurice intervenes to secure their retreat. This loss drives Alfred's determination to grow stronger. He investigates the petrification plague orchestrated by Pope Vall d'Hebron, uncovering church corruption and forging alliances, such as with Deflotte Danowa, who joins after Alfred aids his plague-ravaged village.
Alfred participates in defending Hortensia against Duke Rugis and the corrupted church. During the final confrontation, Rugis transforms into a werewolf, kills Pope Vall, and impales Alfred, causing his death. Princess Mariel revives Alfred using forbidden magnolia power, a taboo act that imbues him with an unspecified internal entity later manifested as a demonic eye. Resurrected shortly after the battle, Alfred stands alongside Mariel as she reclaims the throne.
