Movie
Description
Mofurun begins as a sentient teddy bear, originally an inanimate plush toy gifted to Asahina Mirai by her grandmother during infancy. The bear gains mobility and speech after Mirai and Izayoi Liko first transform into Pretty Cure, characteristically ending sentences with "-mofu". Visually, Mofurun appears as a light brown teddy bear with blue eyes, a white stomach, pink cheeks, and a tan muzzle. Distinctive features include purple and pink stars on each ear, matching hearts on the paws, and a fuchsia bow around the neck featuring a jewel compact.

Mofurun demonstrates a warm-hearted, soft-spoken, and curious personality, sometimes displaying gluttonous or simple-minded tendencies. Serious situations evoke visible worry or sadness. A responsible nature emerges when caring for others, particularly in safeguarding Mirai's well-being, mentoring Ha-chan (later revealed as Cure Felice), and assisting Mirai and Liko during magic studies. Relationships define Mofurun: Mirai is regarded as a sister figure due to their lifelong bond; Liko shares a connection through magic; Ha-chan receives nurturing care; Chikurun is treated with kindness despite initial hostility; and Kumata is trusted quickly, with Mofurun believing in his inherent goodness even after discovering his identity as Dark Matter.

The character's gender is intentionally ambiguous. Early materials avoided explicit designation, later clarified by production staff solely as "Mofurun." Director Tanaka Yuta designed Cure Mofurun with androgynous features like pumpkin pants to reflect this concept. Character designer Miyamoto Emiko and producer Naito Keisuke reaffirmed the non-binary interpretation. However, series head writer Murayama Isao stated an unused plotline would have revealed Mofurun as female, with Mirai mistakenly perceiving her as male. Official merchandise promotions acknowledge Mofurun may be interpreted as "boy, girl, or neither."

Functionally, Mofurun serves as the transformation device for Cure Miracle (Mirai) and Cure Magical (Liko), detects nearby Linkle Stones through scent, and later perceives their spirits. Emotional growth occurs throughout the series: Mofurun experiences feelings of inadequacy when Ha-chan temporarily disappears and again when captured by Yamoh, requiring Mirai's encouragement to regain confidence. A pivotal moment involves Mofurun refusing to abandon Chikurun after their betrayal, ultimately earning the bee fairy's respect. Mofurun temporarily becomes "Mofuruderella" in a magical reinterpretation of "Cinderella," altering the story's outcome to center on becoming a magician rather than marrying a prince.

Mofurun achieves a humanoid form as Cure Mofurun, the Pretty Cure of Wishes, primarily through the Linkle Stone Mofurun in the film *Witchy Pretty Cure! The Movie: Wonderous! Cure Mofurun!*. This form manifests as a young girl with thick curly auburn hair, retaining bear-like eyes and ears, wearing an orange jacket, red suspenders, and mismatched gloves featuring paw designs. Additional transformations exist, each tied to specific Linkle Stones and accessories:
- **Ruby Style**: Twin tails with red ribbons, black top with red blouse, red boots.
- **Sapphire Style**: Bubbly ponytail with beads, navy blue top, pale blue gloves, flat shoes.
- **Topaz Style**: Donut-shaped hairstyle, yellow dress with apron, bear-head shoes.
- **Heartful Style**: Fluffy hair buns, orange jacket, pale pink wings, winged bow.
As Cure Mofurun, the character wields the Rainbow Carriage for the "Extreme Rainbow" attack and unlocks "Heartful Rainbow" in Heartful Style.

Within *Eiga Precure All Stars: Minna de Utau♪ Kiseki no Mahou!*, Mofurun plays a critical support role after the witch Solcière and servant Trauuma capture numerous Pretty Cures. Separated from Mirai and Liko during the initial conflict, Mofurun locates the Miracle Lights alongside mascots Pafu and Aroma. These objects dispel evil, providing essential aid during the captured Cures' escape attempt. Mofurun's actions indirectly contribute to the unification of all 44 Pretty Cures, enabling their combined effort to defeat Trauuma through friendship and song, without Mofurun directly engaging in combat as Cure Mofurun.
