Description
Ymir, daughter of the Dwarf King, inherited management of the Iron Mountain's steel mills fifty years before the main series. Facing a business crisis from rival mass-produced steel, her primary motivation became entering the Queen's Blade tournament to prove dwarven weaponry's superiority, especially against competitor Cattleya. During this era, she was fiercely competitive, frequently emphasizing her weapons' quality and exhibiting childlike traits like whining, partly due to her small stature of approximately 120cm. She had sandy blonde hair, blue eyes, wore a pink puffy dress, an armored gauntlet, and boots, and wielded a red battle axe significantly larger than herself. She notably disliked snakes.
A pivotal defeat occurred when Claudette destroyed her weapon during the tournament. Bound by dwarven law mandating obedience to whoever breaks their weapon, Ymir became bound to the newly crowned queen. This marked her transition into the "Iron Strategist" (or "Steel Staff Officer") within the Queen's Army during the Rebellion era. Her role expanded to staff officer duties and lead alchemist, inventing tactical items like the "Asgartan Fire Jar" incendiary bombs and the "Giant Growth" elixir for temporary size and strength enhancement. Her appearance was redesigned: a gothic-inspired outfit featuring a black corset, red plaid skirt with black frills, skull motifs, and striped sleeves. She replaced her original axe with dual black axes and equipped wrist-bladed gauntlets. Her personality grew calmer and more analytical compared to her earlier impulsiveness, though she retained her focus on metallurgy and resource management. Her fear of snakes was no longer evident.
In Rebellion, she spearheaded the "Strongest Project," developing powered armor and weaponry like the Hyper Vibration Armor and sword for soldiers such as Mirim, funded by the queen's resources. Her decision to target Mirim's home village for harboring rebels caused Mirim's defection to the Rebel Army. The "Queen's Blade Rebellion Premium Visual Book" included an original animation DVD depicting her pre-Rebellion collaboration with Siggy, showcasing her alchemy research and retained fondness for financial gain. Later, in the "Unlimited" continuity, her design shifted to a bridal theme: a puffy white gown with floral-adorned armor and a redecorated battle axe.
