Description
Mel, granddaughter of Talgia Hokley and older sister to Rin and Al, lives with her family in a frontier village bordering a forest. She acts as a motherly figure to her younger siblings, caring for their well-being. Mel encourages Rin's dream of singing in the capital despite their grandfather's objections.

When Rin discovers her ability to heal through song, Mel arranges opportunities for her to practice this power, such as switching chores so Rin can gather herbs in the forest. This leads to Rin encountering an injured knight and developing her abilities further. Later, soldiers under General Bazra's command attack and burn the village. Mel is found mortally wounded during the assault.

In her final moments, Rin attempts to heal Mel using the Song of Healing, though the healing comes too late. With her dying breath, Mel reaffirms her wish for Rin to pursue her dream of singing in the capital. Her death becomes a catalyst for Rin's journey, strengthening her resolve to use her songs to help others.
