Description
Born in 767 UC (458 IC / 3567 CE) within the Galactic Empire, August Samuel Wahlen commenced his military career before 792 UC. By then a lieutenant commander, he served as first officer aboard the cruiser *Hässliche Entlein*. During this assignment in mid-792 UC, he aided then-Captain Reinhard von Müsel (later von Lohengramm) in retrieving a stolen directional Seffle particle generator prototype from defecting noble Count Herxheimer, marking his first documented collaboration with Reinhard.
Wahlen joined Reinhard's admiralty upon its formation in 796 UC. His first major combat command under Reinhard occurred at the Battle of Amritsar, where his fleet ambushed and destroyed the Free Planets Alliance's 3rd Fleet (also identified as the 8th Fleet in some sources). He later fought alongside Siegfried Kircheis and Cornelius Lutz at the Battle of Kyffhäuser during the Lippstadt Rebellion and participated in the pivotal Battle of Vermilion against Alliance forces.
In 799 UC (1 NIC / 490 IC / 3599 CE), Wahlen spearheaded the Imperial assault on Terra, headquarters of the Terraist Church. A Terraist assassin stabbed his left arm with a poisoned knife during the mission, inducing a coma that necessitated amputation to save his life. Following Terra's suppression, he facilitated Julian Mintz's request to travel to Odin, transporting him and his companions aboard his flagship *Salamander*.
Wahlen fought in both Battles of Rantemario. At the first battle in February 799 UC, his fleet attacked the Alliance's right flank, creating a temporary gap exploited by Imperial forces. During the second battle in November 800 UC (2 NIC / 491 IC / 3600 CE) against Oskar von Reuenthal's rebellion, his fleet arrived on November 25 to reinforce Wolfgang Mittermeyer's loyalist forces. An explosion from a direct hit by Reuenthal's fleet destroyed his prosthetic arm in this engagement.
He was present during the Urvashi Incident in October 800 UC, his fleet locating and rendezvousing with Reinhard's missing flagship *Brünhild* after Terraist-affiliated soldiers attacked the emperor.
Wahlen maintained a son residing with his parents during his campaigns. Surviving the Reuenthal Rebellion, he remained in active service. In 801 UC (3 NIC / 492 IC / 3601 CE), Reinhard von Lohengramm recommended him for promotion to fleet admiral prior to the emperor's death.
