Alain is a tall, slender teenager with disheveled black hair and piercing blue eyes. He typically wears a black leather jacket, baggy gray pants, rugged boots, a blue shirt over a white undershirt, fingerless gloves, and a pale blue scarf patterned after Mega Charizard X’s fiery aura. Originally an assistant to Professor Sycamore in Lumiose City, he became driven by the goal of mastering Mega Evolution and becoming the strongest Pokémon Trainer. After receiving a Key Stone and Charizardite X from Lysandre, he joined Lysandre Labs, where his mission involved researching Mega Evolution by seeking out and battling other users across Kalos and Hoenn. His journey revolves around his powerful Mega Charizard X, which evolved from the Charmander he received as Sycamore’s assistant. Alain reluctantly allowed the novice Trainer Mairin to accompany him after she witnessed his victory over Astrid’s Mega Absol. Though he initially viewed her as a hindrance and often pushed her away for her safety, their bond deepened over time. In Hoenn, he confronted Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre alongside Steven Stone’s Mega Metagross to protect a Giant Rock energy source, and later faced Mega Rayquaza, shielding Mairin from harm. He battled Elite Four member Siebold’s Mega Blastoise, demonstrating his skill and determination. Alain exhibits intense focus and emotional reserve, prioritizing strength above personal connections, yet he fiercely guards those he cares about. After Mairin’s Chespie fell into a coma due to experiments at Lysandre Labs, Alain was consumed by guilt and vowed to cure the Pokémon. Eventually discovering Team Flare’s destructive goals, he defected and joined Ash Ketchum’s coalition to stop them. In the Kalos League, Alain defeated Ash in the finals to become Champion. He later ranked sixth in the World Coronation Series’ Master Class. His team includes Charizard (which Mega Evolves into Mega Charizard X), Bisharp, Metagross, Tyranitar, Chesnaught, Malamar, Unfezant, Weavile, and Garchomp.
