This brings them into conflict with Governor Proud, who conducts secret research in nearby ruins and perceives outsiders as a threat. They escape to a base occupied by their associate, Dr. Watson, and his robot Antoinette.

Alan exhibits a pronounced obsession with coffee, dominating his dialogue and actions. He frequently discusses and references coffee's importance, often depicted drinking it. Approximately half his spoken lines center on coffee consumption or appreciation, surpassing other personal matters.
