Ana Thomas, also known as Hailey Anne Thomas, is a human character in the Yo-kai Watch series. She is a fifth-grade student in Class 5-1 at Springdale Elementary School, the same age as Nate Adams. Ana has short purple bob-cut hair, large round glasses, and dull purple eyes. She typically wears a blue top with a yellow music note, a pink cardigan with striped hems, a white miniskirt, dark blue leggings, and yellow trainers. On her left wrist she wears the Yo-kai Watch Model U prototype, which is later upgraded to the Model U2. Fascinated by science fiction, outer space, and anime merchandise, she habitually connects daily events to her favorite show Sailor Cuties. She identifies as an all-around nerd and occasionally shows insecurity through hallucinations of her own giant head. After missing out on a figurine at an anime store, she acquires the Yo-kai Watch prototype and meets the Yo-kai Usapyon in an alley, forging a partnership. Together they found the Ha-pyon Detective Agency to investigate Yo-kai mysteries and collaborate on a rocket to realize the ambitions of Usapyon’s former owner, Dr. Hughly. In Yo-kai Watch 3, she allies with Nate Adams to counter the Ghoulfather. In Yo-kai Watch 4, she detects anomalies of future Yo-kai appearing in the present timeline, is kidnapped by the Yo-kai Fukurou under the mistaken belief she is a princess, and is later rescued. She aids quests that allow players to befriend Usapyon. In Blasters++ mode, she becomes playable via possession mechanics using Yo-kai Drones for combat. Ana makes her anime debut in Usapyon Is Here! and has recurring roles in season three, including racing Nate in the Yo-kai Grand Prix and reconciling with Usapyon. In the film Enma Daiō to Itsutsu no Monogatari da Nyan!, she appears in a Santa costume for Christmas deliveries, in winter wear during interdimensional travel, and in Hawaiian outfits. Her relationships include a rivalry with Nate despite their teamwork, a steady friendship with Jessica, and caring for her younger brother Joshua. Her partnership with Usapyon persists despite his frequent irritation at her cosmic analogies. The name Hailey Anne subtly evokes alien, with Hailey possibly alluding to Halley’s Comet. Early localization drafts used Gracie as a placeholder name and Sailor Star for her favorite show, and her Japanese catchphrase is Chiwatchi!
