Description
Karauri is a demon employed in Japanese hell, serving directly under its Chief of Staff. Despite his childlike appearance stemming from his imp race, he is actually a young adult, standing 140 centimeters tall. He wears clothing made entirely of cotton due to sensitive skin. Professionally reliable and level-headed, he often acts as the straight man, counterbalancing the eccentric behavior of his best friend and fellow subordinate, Nasubi. This dynamic frequently causes Karauri annoyance or exasperation at Nasubi's illogical actions, though they share a close, almost brotherly bond. Karauri acknowledges and respects Nasubi's artistic talent, even if he admits he cannot fully appreciate or understand it like their superior does. His career aspiration is to work in Shugou Hell, dedicated to punishing mortal sins.
Karauri interacts with his superior as an equal; the Chief of Staff explains tasks, allows Karauri and Nasubi to accompany him during errands, and treats them with camaraderie, contrasting sharply with his harsh treatment of King Enma, the ruler of Hell. Karauri displays clear admiration for his superiors, often appearing awestruck in their presence. He harbors significant romantic interest in Oko, the chief assistant of Mortal Hell. This crush manifests as visible blushing when he encounters her, dreamily muttering her name during tasks like laundry at her residence, and a strong attraction to her physical appearance. His stated goal of working in Shugou Hell is implied to be motivated by Oko's presence there. This interest once led to disappointment when their superior declined Oko's offer to personally guide him and Nasubi through Shugou Hell. Karauri also deeply respects Oko for her kindness, particularly after she overlooked a significant mistake made by Nasubi, allowing both subordinates to avoid punishment.
