Description
Yashiro Chikama asserts she arrived from the stars to locate a lost companion called "Doho" or her "brethren," estimating this search will span 3,000 Earth years. She claims her species lives an average of 800 million years. Her true origins remain veiled, as she consistently avoids revealing concrete details about her past. Initially believing all humans wore spacesuits, she adopted one upon arrival.

She resembles an elementary school girl with light blue hair and matching eyes, often accessorized with bow-like ornaments. She first concealed her face within a full-body spacesuit decorated with hearts and stars, explaining her face "wasn’t ready" to be seen. Later, she appeared without the helmet, wearing a sleeveless dress. She demonstrates no physical aging, looking unchanged a decade later and even millennia into the future.

Her personality mixes childlike curiosity with social unawareness. She exhibits playful behavior, expresses affection openly towards those she connects with, and frequently invents sound effects like simulated spacesuit breathing. Despite an extensive vocabulary, she often misunderstands basic social conventions, causing confusion. She possesses a notable preoccupation with food, especially sweets, claiming an enhanced ability to detect their scent over long distances or through obstacles. This enthusiasm drives her to frequent local shops, like Nagafuji Taeko’s family meat shop, for items such as croquettes.

She significantly influences other characters. She first met Hino Akira while fishing; Akira later introduced her to Shimamura Hougetsu. Yashiro formed an immediate attachment to Shimamura, frequently appearing in her daily life. Her presence inadvertently provoked jealousy in Adachi Sakura, who saw Yashiro as a rival for Shimamura’s attention. Over time, Yashiro befriended Shimamura’s younger sister, Yoshika, nicknaming her "Sho-san" while being called "Yachii" in return. Their playful relationship diverted Yoshika’s competitive focus away from Adachi. Yashiro’s energy reminded Shimamura of her own childhood, a similarity Shimamura’s mother also noted.

Narratively, she facilitates pivotal moments. Her unexpected appearances during Adachi and Shimamura’s interactions intensified Adachi’s emotions, compelling her to act on romantic feelings she might otherwise suppress. For instance, Yashiro’s intrusion during their first outing worsened Adachi’s jealousy, inadvertently motivating her pursuit of a closer bond with Shimamura. "What if" scenarios suggest Adachi and Shimamura might never have connected without her influence. In one future timeline, she lived with the Shimamura family while regularly visiting Adachi and Shimamura’s apartment a decade later. Millennia later in a post-apocalyptic world, she guided reincarnations of the protagonists, fulfilling a promise to ensure their souls meet across lifetimes. She demonstrates unconventional abilities, like fitting into impossibly small spaces such as Shimamura’s bag undetected during a trip, and references awareness of multiple timelines, noting Shimamura meeting Adachi as a universal constant.
