TV-Series
Description
Marco Bott is a first-year student at Attack Junior High School with short black hair parted in the center, freckles, and light brown eyes, wearing the standard boys' uniform.
His positive, optimistic, and approachable personality makes him a natural peacemaker in class. He often tolerates trouble from his best friend, Jean Kirschtein, maintaining order during chaos and supporting peers. Marco welcomes Jean on his first day, frequently offering him advice and reassurance.
During the school dodgeball tournament, Marco plays on Jean's team, patiently explaining game mechanics to Conny Springer. He later compliments Jean's hairstyle and encourages him to face reality about his popularity, sometimes angering Jean. When Jean receives a fake love letter from a Titan, Marco recalls their prior encounter and stays by Jean's side through his disappointment.
Marco participates in the school's Sports Day games. Facing upperclassmen, he confirms Mikasa's strategy of targeting the leaders' bandanas but expresses doubt about its feasibility. He lunges with Armin, Thomas, and Conny at an opposing team to aid Eren Yeager's group.
After student council president elections are announced, Marco expresses belief in the honor of serving the school. Jean accuses him of seeking female attention, which Marco denies. When candidates chase a notebook believed to hold election strategies, Marco returns it to its owner, Ilse Langnar, apologizes for others' behavior, and asserts each candidate would make a good president.
Marco accompanies Jean during his final presidential speech. When the crowd boos Jean for admitting he sought the position for girls' attention, Marco defends him, stating Jean understands weakness and would empathize with others. This speech impresses the audience, leading to Marco's unexpected election as president by a large margin.
For the school's 104th festival, Marco organizes a rotation system for class events due to insufficient participants. He performs in a Snow White play with Jean, Conny, Thomas, and Sasha Blouse. When the rotation fails, Marco and Jean nearly handle the event alone. Marco later checks the popular cheeseburger stand run by Eren's group and flees when Titans steal the food stands.
When teachers block Eren's attempt to retrieve stolen cheeseburgers from the Titans' building, Marco and classmates intervene. He follows Eren's group into the principal's office with Ilse, holding a camera while she commentates.
Marco maintains a close friendship with Jean despite their differing personalities, serving as a voice of reason during Jean's frustrations. His rapport with Ilse develops after returning her journal during the election chaos; she admires his selflessness and endorses him for president.
In one incident, Marco refuses to walk with Jean due to unreturned borrowed items. When Jean apologizes, Marco reveals he also has an eraser of Jean's he never returned. They reconcile, though Marco becomes irritated when Jean accidentally knocks over a lost-and-found bin.
Marco's interests include supporting friends, helping with school projects, comforting others, and making jokes. He dislikes Titans, people who harm his friends, fighting among students, and criticism of his jokes.
