Description
Nyx is a wandering magician notable for her command of fire, appearing as a supporting character in the anime Queen's Blade: Beautiful Warriors. She is a young woman of humble origins, with long brown hair and blue eyes. Her mother was a low-ranking servant in the household of the Vance family, the noble house to which Leina and Elina belong. Nyx's life changed when she came into possession of Funikura, a forbidden staff with a will of its own. The staff granted her immense magical power centred on flame, but that power came with a serious drawback: Nyx is unable to fully control it.

In terms of personality, Nyx is driven by a strong sense of justice, but her zeal regularly gets the better of her. Because she cannot rein in her abilities or her emotions, she is considered dangerous; her attempts to punish wrongdoers tend to go too far, sometimes ending with her burning down the homes of people she judges to be villains. She is also sensitive about her past and dislikes anyone who mocks the person she used to be before she gained the staff.

Her motivations are closely tied to Funikura. She treasures the staff and treats it as her closest companion. At the same time, she fears losing its power and the sense of purpose it gives her, and this fear is one of the reasons she continues to fight and enters the Queen's Blade tournament. Her desire to use her strength to crush evil is blended with a lingering worry about becoming powerless.

In the story of Beautiful Warriors, Nyx holds a supporting role. She is not suited to close-quarters fighting and instead relies on long- and mid-range combat, wielding Funikura as a magical staff to scorch the battlefield with flame. A notable detail of her fighting style is that, in truth, Funikura does most of the fighting; Nyx acts largely as an instrument of the staff's will rather than the true master of the power she carries. In earlier instalments of the anime she is glimpsed only briefly, such as appearing on a Queen's Blade broadcast while casting a fire spell.

Her key relationship is therefore with Funikura itself, a partnership that defines both her strength and her vulnerability. Her connection to the Vance household links her to Leina and Elina, though her direct interactions with them are limited within the anime. Her development is shaped by the tension between her sincere ideals and the uncontrollable nature of her magic, as well as her ongoing struggle to hold onto the power that has come to define her. Outside of combat, she is shown to have a talent for cooking, capable of turning even rough ingredients into something delicious.
