Description
Discovered within ancient Midchildan ruins by archaeologist Yuuno Scrya, the Intelligent Device Raising Heart possessed no prior registered users, its artificial intelligence dormant until acquisition by Nanoha Takamachi. Yuuno functioned as a guest user with limited access to search and sealing functions, unable to achieve full activation. Upon transfer, Raising Heart registered Nanoha as its permanent master. The device communicates primarily in English, addressing Nanoha as "master," and delivers tactical support for magical attacks, fire control, and combat processing. Its core Standby Mode manifests as a red spherical crystal roughly 1.5 cm in diameter, capable of supportive magic and image training simulations.

During an early confrontation with Vita of the Wolkenritter in *Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's*, Raising Heart sustained critical damage and fragmented. It underwent reconstruction and enhancement by Mariel Atenza, integrating an automatic-type Belkan cartridge system at its own request. This upgrade enabled use of magic cartridges loaded via rifle-style magazines, significantly expanding attack capabilities. Post-reconstruction, the device was redesignated Raising Heart Exelion, though Nanoha retained the informal name Raising Heart. New operational modes emerged: Axel Mode retained the original staff-like Device Mode appearance while incorporating the cartridge system for flight assistance, defensive support, and projectile guidance. Buster Mode enhanced the prior Shooting Mode for bombardment spells like Divine Buster, later integrating an Accelerate Charge System that generated mana wings. Exelion Mode represented the Full Drive state, reconfiguring the staff head into a spearhead-like form with additional mana fins, wings, and a rocket engine for high-output attacks.

Beyond *A's*, Raising Heart Exelion evolved further. *StrikerS* replaced Exelion Mode with Exceed Mode, reinforcing the structural framework. Blaster Mode introduced three power levels generating autonomous drone units called Blaster Bits to amplify Nanoha's spells, imposing physical strain on both user and device. The *Force* manga continuity introduced Standalone Flight Mode, adapting the device into a floating blade-edged unit capable of auxiliary control, shielding, and offensive functions, supporting Nanoha's use of two-handed weaponry. Movie continuities reimagined forms: Shooting Mode and Sealing Mode merged into Canon Mode featuring a rotatable trigger, while Buster Mode became Bustercanon Mode. The *Reflection* and *Detonation* films introduced Exelion II Mode as an enhanced variant and Formula Mode for integration with Barrier Jacket modifications.

Across all media, Raising Heart consistently provides core functions including automated defense protocols like Protection, mana absorption for spell charging, and dimensional search capacities. Its artificial intelligence demonstrates independent decision-making, evident in its insistence on the Belkan cartridge upgrade and adaptation to Nanoha's evolving combat requirements. The device's origins remain unspecified beyond its discovery in ruins, with no prior users or creators identified.
