Description
Moyako Konoe is the central protagonist of Ane Log, a high school girl whose life revolves around a single childhood misunderstanding. When she was young, her younger brother Akira innocently stated that he wanted to marry her. Moyako took this declaration literally and, years later, remains firmly convinced that Akira is secretly a pervert with a dangerous sister complex. She believes it is her duty as his older sister to rehabilitate him and prevent him from becoming a deviant. In reality, Akira’s behavior is completely ordinary, and every seemingly innocent interaction between them is distorted by Moyako’s own overactive imagination. She repeatedly misinterprets his actions, imagining elaborate perverted schemes, and then takes extreme, often absurd measures to thwart what she believes are his advances.
Outwardly, Moyako is a model student: she has long black hair and blue eyes, earns excellent grades, is athletic, and serves as class representative. She is passionate, determined, and fiercely protective of her brother, though her protectiveness manifests as possessive and misguided vigilance. Underneath her aggressive, overbearing exterior, she is genuinely kind, caring, and willing to help others—she looks after sick classmates and encourages Akira to pursue his interests. She also has a childish side, prone to tantrums when things do not go her way.
Moyako’s primary motivation is her sense of responsibility as an older sister. She feels obligated to shield Akira from what she perceives as his own corrupt tendencies, and she dedicates herself to this self-appointed mission. Her role in the story is to drive the comedy through her constant misinterpretations and overreactions, creating humorous situations where she is the only one aware of the supposed perversion. Her key relationship is with Akira, whose normal, unassuming behavior contrasts sharply with her suspicions. Supporting characters include her friends and classmates, who occasionally witness her antics. Throughout the series, Moyako shows little development in her core misunderstanding; her delusions persist, but she remains a loving if misguided older sister. Her most notable ability is the sheer creativity and speed of her paranoid imagination, which she uses to spin innocent moments into elaborate scenarios.
