Description
Naru Ayase is the main protagonist of "Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live". This petite 14-year-old middle school student stands 145 cm tall, a result of her premature birth. She has peach-colored hair, golden eyes, and favors cute, girly fashion featuring lace and pastel accents. Her cheerful, optimistic, and occasionally airheaded personality is captured by her catchphrase "Happy Naru!". Naru possesses synesthesia, perceiving music as colors and visual imagery; however, emotional distress can temporarily inhibit this ability and trigger crying spells. She demonstrates perceptiveness about others' emotions and excels at decorating objects. Initially aspiring to manage the boutique Dear Crown, she unexpectedly becomes manager of the Prism Stone Shop after her first Prism Show audition. During this debut, her Pair Friend Lovelin—a penguin hatched from a rainbow-patterned egg—transforms into a Prism Stone and later a pink electric guitar, enabling her to perform a "Prism Live" that captivates the audience despite forgotten choreography. As manager, she recruits classmates Ann Fukuhara and Ito Suzuno (later nicknamed Cross) to handle sweets and makeup, gradually forming friendships despite Ito's initial reluctance. Naru develops romantic feelings for Kouji Mihama but ultimately helps him reconcile with Ito, overcoming her own heartbreak. Her character evolves from uncertainty to proactive determination, exemplified when she competes seriously in the Dreaming Session tournament to support Ann. Inspired by Bell Renjouji's performances, her dream shifts from personal success to creating joy for audiences. By the series' conclusion, she resigns from Prism Stone to achieve her original goal: becoming Dear Crown's manager and figurehead, replacing June. In "Kiratto Pri☆Chan", a parallel incarnation named Naru Shiawase (幸瀬なる) appears. She retains Naru Ayase's pink hair, catchphrase "Happy Naru", and March 3rd birthday. As manager of Dear Crown, she mentors the idol duo Ring Marry (Maria Kanamori and Suzu Kurokawa). Her admiration for Meganee Akai initially creates a rivalry, as Meganee views her as a competitor due to Dear Crown's popularity surpassing Prism Stone; they reconcile after Naru expresses her longstanding inspiration from Meganee. Naru Shiawase balances school attendance with her managerial duties and is revealed as the author of "The Princess of the Jewel Kingdom", a book influential to Nijinosaki. She debuted as an idol at Prism Stone, consistent with her original background. Within the "Kirakira Memorial Live" crossover film, Naru Ayase appears as an idol character without new narrative development.
