Description
Aguri Madoka, also known as Cure Ace and identified as Natalie Miller in some adaptations, is a fourth-grade student who originates from the Trump Kingdom as the purified, benevolent half of Princess Marie Ange’s divided heart. After the princess separated her capacity for love and protection from darker emotions as her father succumbed to evil, Aguri was sent to Earth, discovered, and adopted by Madoka Mari. Despite her youth, she is composed and wise, with a strict adherence to rules and a strong sense of duty that can sometimes come across as unintentionally harsh. She has a deep appreciation for sweets and fine food, often expressing delight with the refined phrase “Bravo,” and uses “Adieu” when departing. Aguri protects her schoolmate Eru Morimoto from bullies and shares a complex bond with Regina, the darker half of the princess; their relationship evolves from rivalry to collaboration, ultimately saving their father, King Jikochuu, and strengthening their sisterly connection. She also cares for the fairy baby Ai, who sees her as an older sister and enables her transformation into Cure Ace. As Cure Ace, the “trump card of love,” her transformation uses the Love Eyes Palette and a Lovead generated by Ai, physically aging her into a mature form with bright red curled hair, magenta eyes, and a red-and-black scalloped dress with a white jacket. Initially constrained by a five-minute time limit due to her fragmented history, she overcomes this limitation after regaining full memories via the Eternal Golden Crown. Her primary weapon is the Love Kiss Rouge, which powers the “Ace Shot” attack; the effect depends on the lipstick hue—red purifies, purple immobilizes, yellow entangles, and blue contains. She also uses the “Ace Mirror Flash” attack with the Magical Lovely Pad and can enter a powered-up state marked by a red aura during intense battles. In the film Eiga Dokidoki! Precure Mana Kekkon!!? Mirai ni Tsunagu Kibō no Dress, Cure Ace appears in the climax to aid Cure Sword. Her journey continues into an epilogue where she prevents a satellite crash and, alongside Regina, temporarily assumes the form of Cure Joker to face new threats. The name Aguri Madoka carries symbolic meaning: “Madoka” can mean “circle” or “yen,” while “Aguri” historically signifies a daughter intended as her parents’ last female child; an anagram of her name rearranges to “Regina,” hinting at their intertwined destinies.
