Description
Hibiki Hōjō, a 14-year-old second-year at Private Aria Academy, was born to prominent musicians—her father a conductor/composer and her mother a violinist. Their demanding careers often left her alone, fostering a loneliness she masked with cheerfulness. A misunderstanding under cherry blossom trees during their school entrance ceremony led to estrangement from childhood friend Minamino Kanade, leaving Hibiki resentful until their eventual reconciliation. Childhood trauma struck during a piano recital when her father called her substitute performance "false music," causing her to abandon music despite innate talent and absolute pitch.

She possesses dark blue eyes and waist-length auburn hair, typically styled in pigtails secured by pink ribbons. Her civilian attire often features a black heart-motif tunic over a white long-sleeved shirt, black leggings, and pink-accented sneakers. Hibiki exhibits exceptional athleticism, readily assisting various school sports clubs without joining one permanently, excelling in activities ranging from judo to soccer. Academically weak but enthusiastic about cooking, she frequently sneaks sweets from Kanade's family bakery, Lucky Spoon, showcasing her love for desserts.

Defending Kanon Town from threats like Minor Land activates her transformation into Cure Melody. Using the pink Fairy Tone "Dory" and her Cure Module, her hair lengthens into light pink curled twin-tails with braided bases, her eyes brighten to light blue, and she dons a two-piece outfit with frilled sleeves, a tutu skirt, thigh-high magenta stockings, and a rabbit-ear headband bow. Her catchphrase is "I’m betting my pride as a woman on this!" and her introduction declares, "Strumming the wild tune, Cure Melody!" As Cure Melody, she wields the Miracle Belltier for attacks like "Music Rondo" and combines with Cure Rhythm for "Passionate Harmony."

Energetic, optimistic, and driven by justice, Hibiki dislikes underhanded tactics and losing. Her naivety and susceptibility to loneliness were exploited by enemies like Siren, who manipulated her into fracturing her friendship with Kanade. However, her persistence aided in redeeming antagonists: Siren became Cure Beat, while Shirabe Ako, initially dismissed as a "cheeky brat," joined as Cure Muse. An only child who envied Kanade’s sibling relationship, Hibiki enthusiastically welcomed Ako into their circle.

Character development involved reconciling with her father after understanding his critique stemmed from her mechanically playing without joy, reigniting her passion for piano and aligning with her dream to become a pianist. Her Cure forms evolved: She gained **Super Cure Melody** in *Pretty Cure All Stars DX 3*, featuring a full-length dress, purple leggings, white accessories, angel wings, and lighter pink hair. She first achieved **Crescendo Cure Melody** in *Suite Pretty Cure♪ : Torimodose! Kokoro ga Tsunagu Kiseki no Melody!* and later in Episode 47, requiring the Crescendo Tone or combined Fairy Tones. This form altered her costume to pearl pink/white with feathery accents, added large golden wings, and changed her hair to tight curls. Her introduction became "Strumming the heart’s tune, Crescendo Cure Melody!" enabling the "Suite Session Ensemble Crescendo Finale" team attack.

In crossover events like *Spring Carnival♪*, she participated with other Cures in Harmonia’s musical festival. Themes of resilience and harmony reflect her name etymology: "Hōjō" (North Line) and "Hibiki" (sound/echo), symbolizing "north line sound." Carnations represent her in floral motifs, denoting sensitivity and devotion.
