Hibiki Hōjō, a 14-year-old second-year student at Private Aria Academy, excels in sports as a free assistant for multiple school clubs—judo, baseball, and track and field—and meticulously prepares for competitions. Despite her parents' musical careers—her father a composer and teacher, her mother a violinist—she once believed herself musically untalented due to childhood criticism from her father about her "false music" piano performance, though she possesses absolute pitch. She later reignites her passion to become a pianist.
Energetic and justice-driven, Hibiki values honesty and hard work, scorning underhanded tactics. Her competitive spirit manifests as hot-blooded intensity and a fierce aversion to losing. She frequently indulges in sweets from her friend Kanade’s bakery, enduring occasional scoldings. Socially, she masks loneliness from being an only child with busy parents through cheerfulness, though her naivety leaves her susceptible to manipulation.
Transforming into Cure Melody via a musical score, her appearance shifts dramatically: waist-length auburn hair becomes light pink knee-length curled twin-tails with ribbons. She dons a ruffled white crop top, magenta vest, and multi-layered tutu blending white, pink, and magenta frills, accessorized by a rabbit-ear bow headband, heart earrings, striped magenta stockings, and ribbon-detailed shoes. Her battle cry is "Playing the wild tune, Cure Melody!", declaring "I'm betting my pride as a woman on this!" while wielding the Miracle Belltier weapon activated by the Fairy Tone "Dory."
In "Precure All Stars New Stage: Mirai no Tomodachi," Hibiki and the Suite Pretty Cure team combat villain Fusion fragments in Yokohama. She encounters Ayumi Sakagami, a Pretty Cure admirer, and later aids Smile Pretty Cure against Fu-chan—a Fusion fragment Ayumi befriended. Hibiki joins forces with teams like Heartcatch and Fresh to thwart Fusion’s resurgence, culminating in Ayumi becoming Cure Echo and the united Cures defeating Fusion.
Her growth includes reconciling with her father after embracing his "true music" philosophy of joyful performance and mending her friendship with Kanade post-estrangement. She redeems adversaries: helping Siren defect from Minor Land to become Cure Beat, supporting Ellen Kurokawa’s team integration, and bonding with Shirabe Ako after initial clashes over Cure Muse’s aloofness.
Hibiki achieves multiple power upgrades. In Crescendo Mode, her hair lightens into tighter curls, her outfit transitions to pearl pink and white with feather accents, and her shoes adopt a heel-like design. Introduced as "Playing the heart’s tune, Crescendo Cure Melody!", this form—enhanced by the Crescendo Tone—confronts escalated threats.
