Description
Nao Midorikawa, known as Cure March when transformed, is a main character from the Smile Pretty Cure! series. She attends Nanairogaoka Middle School as a second-year student in Class 2-2. Her civilian appearance features slanted dark green eyes and short matching hair pulled into a ponytail secured by a yellow rabbit-ear bow. She typically wears an olive quarter-length sleeved top with light lime cuffs, a thick mark on the left elbow, and various badges on the chest, paired with dark olive shorts, slightly baggy orange socks, and black boots with red laces. Her summer outfit consists of a pale green short-sleeved ruffly-trimmed blouse over a lighter undershirt, a denim skirt, brown loafers with darker bows, and short dull olive socks. As the oldest of six siblings, she frequently cares for them in her parents' absence, showing deep dedication to her family.

Upon transforming into Cure March, her eyes and hair brighten, and her hair becomes very thick, styled in a knee-length ponytail with additional shoulder-length curled pigtails framing her face. Her Cure outfit includes a gold crown-like piece with a single white wing on the right, matching helix earrings, a dark green choker, and a scalloped white headdress topped with a green orb. She wears a short light green dress with dark green triangular scalloped trimming and a pleated-bordered skirt, complemented by a pale ruffly olive coattail at the back. The sleeves are short, white, and feathery with two dark green spheres, and she dons emerald shorts beneath the dress. Her ankle-length boots are white with pastel green toes, layered short pale green leg warmers, and dark green ribbons at the sides. She achieves upgraded forms like Tiara Mode, where her tiara becomes an intricate gold crown with five jewelry pieces, and Princess March, featuring a lightened outfit with a ruffled pale mint dress, a split knee-length skirt, and a large back ribbon. In her Ultra Cure March form, her hair grows significantly longer, her crown gains two green diamond gems, and she sports white wings along with a feathery pale mint piece covering her chest and trailing down her back.

Nao possesses a strong sense of justice and rarely forgives wrongdoing. She exhibits powerful courage and a competitive spirit in sports, yet harbors a significant fear of insects and ghosts. The potential loss of her family is her greatest fear, reflecting the high value she places on them. Straightforward and reliable, she can become frustrated when situations deviate from her plans. Beneath her tough exterior lies a fondness for cute things. She excels at sports and serves as captain of her school's soccer team.

Her relationships include a close friendship and rivalry with Akane Hino, rooted in their similar personalities. Miyuki Hoshizora admires her for bravery, athletic skill, and adeptness in caring for her siblings. She is childhood friends with Reika Aoki, often seeking Reika's comfort when frightened. Her devotion to her six younger siblings is unwavering.

Reika befriended Nao in early childhood, around the time Nao first became an older sister. She met Miyuki in episode 1 through an introduction by Akane. In episode 4, Miyuki observed Nao playing soccer and identified her as the fourth Pretty Cure. Nao transformed into Cure March when her courage and dedication to protecting her family bonds compelled her to kick a soccer ball at an Akanbe threatening her siblings. Using her basic attack, March Shoot, she defeated the Akanbe and joined the Pretty Cure team.

Throughout the series, Nao confronts various challenges. In episode 11, after being shrunk by Majorina's inventions, she faced her insect phobia. Though she initially fainted from fear, Reika helped her perceive insects differently, leading Nao to resolve to protect them when suffering, even though her fear persisted. In episode 15, she volunteered herself and her friends for a school baton relay, training them rigorously until the event. Despite a slip during the race that resulted in loss, she received comfort from her friends. In episode 23, she acquired a Decor to transform into Princess Mode and obtained the Princess Candle for the group attack Rainbow Burst. The team later journeyed to the Bad End Kingdom to rescue Candy and recover the stolen Decor after Joker's interference.

As Cure March, she commands wind and breeze, granting super speed that makes her the fastest of the Smile Cures. Her basic attack, March Shoot, involves forming and kicking a green ball of wind at enemies, sometimes in multiples. In Tiara Mode, she combines powers with other Cures for the group attack Rainbow Healing. In Princess Mode, she utilizes the Princess Candle for Rainbow Burst. Alongside her team, she can summon a large rainbow shield or barrier, as seen in the movie "Pretty Cure All Stars New Stage: Friends of the Future!".

In the movie "Smile PreCure! The Movie: Big Mismatch in a Picture Book!", Nao and the other Pretty Cures are transported into a picture book world by Nico, a mysterious guide. They encounter fairy tale characters turned to darkness by the Demon King and engage in battles against them. Nao participates in these team efforts within the picture book world as Cure March.
