Description
Nozomi Yumehara is a second-year student at L’École des Cinq Lumières middle school and the central protagonist of the Yes! Precure 5 series. She transforms into Cure Dream, the Pretty Cure of hope. Her personal catchphrase is “It’s decided!” and her civilian name echoes the meanings of dream and hope, reflecting her role as a character who learns to find direction and purpose. Her father works as an author of children’s stories and her mother runs a beauty shop. Initially unsure of what she wants to do with her life, Nozomi is an airheaded but deeply optimistic and kind-hearted person. She is friendly toward everyone, including her enemies, and makes up for a lack of obvious talent with warmth and determination. She can be clumsy, loud, and easily distracted, especially by food, but her caring nature and bright outlook make her a natural leader. When she becomes Cure Dream, she becomes noticeably more serious and gains the strength to protect others without hesitation.
In the crossover film Precure All-Stars DX3: Mirai ni Todoke! Sekai o Tsunagu Niji-Iro no Hana, Nozomi joins every other Pretty Cure from the first eight seasons to defend the rainbow flower that connects the world to the future. Her role is that of an experienced hero who stands alongside her teammates and newer Cures, embodying the theme of unity and hope. She is the leader of her own five-member team, which includes Rin Natsuki, Urara Kasugano, Komachi Akimoto, and Karen Minazuki. Over the course of her own series, Nozomi develops from a directionless girl into a confident and capable leader, learning to work with teammates who are very different from her. She also forms a close bond with the fairy prince Coco, toward whom she develops romantic feelings.
