Description
Urara Kasugano attends L'École des Cinq Lumières Middle School. Introduced at age 13 in *Yes! Pretty Cure 5*, she ages to 14 during *Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!*. Her heritage is half-Japanese (mother's side) and half-French (father's side). Before becoming a Pretty Cure, intense shyness prevented her from expressing her true self, leaving her friendless. Her demanding schedule as a young actress deepened this isolation. Meeting Yumehara Nozomi changed everything; Nozomi instantly befriended her and urged her to embrace her identity.

Cheerful, polite, and generally calm, Urara often uses the honorific "-san" when addressing others. She exhibits occasional materialism but approaches her acting and singing careers with serious dedication. Personality overlaps with Nozomi include shared impulsiveness, a love of food, and moments of absent-mindedness or clumsiness. Despite her bubbly demeanor, she maintains modesty and introspection, especially concerning her professional goals.

Her family background profoundly shapes her motivations. She shared a deep bond with her mother, Kasugano Maria, who passed away when Urara was young. To honor her mother's memory, Urara pursues acting with unwavering determination. Her relationship with director Takigawa Mariko begins strained due to Mariko's critical feedback, but Urara later learns Mariko respects her talent and seeks to push her creative boundaries. Among her fellow Cures, she shares a particularly strong bond with Nozomi, frequently confiding in her during doubts. She also develops a meaningful connection with the fairy Syrup, gradually earning his trust through kindness.

Urara transforms into Cure Lemonade, the Pretty Cure of Effervescence, wielding light-based powers. She activates her transformation with the phrase "Pretty Cure Metamorphose!", initially using a Pinky Catch and later a CureMo device in *GoGo!*. After witnessing Nozomi and Rin Natsuki fighting as Pretty Cure and inspired by Nozomi's encouragement, Urara intervenes against the villain Gamao. A yellow butterfly materializes into her Pinky Catch, enabling her first transformation. As Cure Lemonade, her appearance shifts: her hair and eyes turn bright yellow, styled into conical buns with curled strands, and she wears a frilly, lemon-themed outfit featuring butterfly motifs. Her attacks include:
- **Lemonade Flash**: Summoning yellow butterflies to attack enemies.
- **Lemonade Shining**: An upgraded version using the Lemonade Castanet item.
- **Prism Chain**: Whip-like chains of butterflies used to bind or strike foes.
She contributes to combination techniques like "Five Explosion" (season 1), "Rainbow Rose Explosion", and "Floral Explosion" (alongside Milky Rose in *GoGo!*).

Her powers evolve in spin-offs and films:
- **Super Cure Lemonade**: Debuts in *Yes! Pretty Cure 5: Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibouken!*, gaining enhanced abilities and butterfly wings for flight via Miracle Lights.
- **Rainbow Cure Lemonade**: Appears in *Pretty Cure All Stars DX 2*, featuring a paler, wing-accented design and neon-yellow hair.
In *Healin' Good Pretty Cure: Yume no Machi de Kyun! tto GoGo! Daihenshin!!*, Cure Lemonade and her team assist the Healin' Good Pretty Cure against the artificial life form Ego Ego in Tokyo. Ego Ego multiplies, prompting the *GoGo!* team's intervention. They later reunite with the Healin' Good Cures for a coordinated assault, culminating in a combined purification effort.

Outside core series appearances, Cure Lemonade inspires Onpa Kotone (later Cure Juicy) in dreams during Kotone's childhood, helping her overcome fears and motivating her to become an idol.

Her name carries thematic significance: "Kasugano" combines "spring" (春) and "sun/day" (日), evoking spring daylight and connecting to her light-based powers. "Urara" (うらら), written in hiragana, implies "bright and beautiful." Together, her full name suggests "bright beauty of a spring day," aligning with her identity as Cure Lemonade.
