Urara Kasugano is a first-year student at L'École des Cinq Lumières Middle School and a dedicated young actress. Of mixed heritage with a Japanese mother and French father, her character was significantly shaped by the passing of her mother when she was young. Despite a busy schedule focused on her acting career, Urara initially struggled to form friendships, often presenting a cheerful but reserved demeanor. This changed after she met Yumehara Nozomi, who became a close friend and helped Urara become more open and expressive.
She transforms into Cure Lemonade, the Pretty Cure of Effervescence, identified by the color yellow and associated with light-based powers. Her transformation phrase is "Pretty Cure Metamorphose." In this form, her hair grows significantly and turns bright yellow, styled into large conical buns. Her outfit is a frilly, feminine design featuring a butterfly-shaped bow and gem on her chest. In upgraded forms like Super Cure Lemonade and Rainbow Cure Lemonade, she gains additional features such as giant yellow butterfly wings and a more elaborate, feather-like costume design.
Her attacks include Lemonade Flash, which summons a cluster of yellow butterflies made of light to attack enemies. Using the Lemonade Castanet, she performs Lemonade Shining, a more powerful version of this attack. In later series, she gains the Prism Chain ability, creating whip-like chains of butterflies to hit or restrain enemies. She also participates in combined attacks with other Pretty Cure members, including Five Explosion and Floral Explosion with Milky Rose.
Urara's personality is generally cheerful, polite, and calm. She can be somewhat materialistic and is deeply serious about her acting and singing careers, also known for having a large appetite. Her primary relationships are with her fellow Pretty Cure members, especially Nozomi, whom she greatly admires and trusts. She forms a bond with the mascot character Syrup, eventually earning his respect and openness. Her director, Takigawa Mariko, contributes to her professional development by pushing Urara to think creatively and respect her own talents.
Her background includes a close relationship with her late mother, Maria, who inspired her dream of becoming an actress. This dream leads to professional challenges, such as failing an audition, but Urara remains determined to improve. She also explores a singing career, releasing songs like "Extraordinary! Door of Courage" and "Twin・Tail Magic ~Fling," which align with her goal of sharing dreams with others.
Across various media, including movies and spin-offs, Urara appears in both her civilian and Cure forms. She participates in numerous ensemble stories and crossovers with other Pretty Cure teams, maintaining her characteristic design and abilities. In these appearances, she is consistently portrayed as a dedicated and effervescent warrior who values friendship and perseverance.
