Description
Makoto Kenzaki, alias Cure Sword, hails from the Trump Kingdom where she served as royal guard to Princess Marie Ange. Orphaned in infancy, she grew up in a facility frequently visited by the princess, forging a deep, sisterly bond and fierce loyalty. When the Jikochuu invasion toppled the kingdom, she escaped to Earth with Marie Ange but became separated en route, leaving Makoto burdened by profound guilt for failing her duty.

On Earth, she adopted the identity "Kenzaki Makoto" and utilized her exceptional singing talent to rise as a top idol under Yotsuba Music, performing as "Makopi." This career served a dual purpose: searching for the missing princess by broadcasting her voice widely and maintaining her cover. She lived in a high-rise apartment with her fairy partner, Dabyi, who posed as her manager "D.B." Offstage, she concealed her identity with a white painter's cap and red-rimmed glasses. Despite her professional success, Makoto displayed significant gaps in understanding Earth's daily life, lacking basic skills like cooking, cleaning, or using household tools due to Trump Kingdom's reliance on automation. Initial school activities starkly revealed this unfamiliarity: signing test papers with autographs, spilling ink during calligraphy, sewing fabric layers together, and substituting sweeping with dance moves.

As Cure Sword, her motif draws from the spade suit and swords. Her transformation phrase is "Cure Sword, the Blade of Courage!" and she declares, "This Cure Sword will sever your ambitions with the sword of love!" Her combat style prioritizes precision and agility, wielding energy-based sword techniques including **Holy Sword**, **Sword Hurricane**, and **Ultimate Sword**. She later achieves **Angel Form**, gaining enhanced abilities, wings, and a tiara.

Initially projecting a cold, solitary demeanor to mask vulnerability and regret, Makoto resisted teamwork with the other Pretty Cures, believing she should fight alone to protect others. Dabyi frequently interpreted her unspoken feelings, as Makoto struggled with emotional openness. Her interactions with Aida Mana started contentiously but evolved into mutual trust, leading Makoto to join the team. She gradually softened, accepting Earth as a new home and transferring to Ōgai First Middle School. Her affection for Princess Marie Ange’s infant form, Ai, further humanized her; she initially resisted finding Ai "cute" but later openly doted on her.

A pivotal moment arose when Makoto doubted her idol career after discovering Marie Ange crystallized and unresponsive. Fellow Cure Aguri Madoka criticized her professionalism, prompting Makoto to consider quitting. Encouraged by Mana to persevere, she continued. During a Jikochuu-disrupted concert, Marie Ange’s spirit reassured her through a magical locket, renewing Makoto’s resolve to sing for her supporters. She reconciled with Aguri, and together they defeated the threat.

Following Trump Kingdom’s restoration, Makoto mourned Marie Ange’s physical dissolution but accepted her wish to cherish friendships and continue singing. She became a global celebrity representing the Trump Republic and periodically aided the Cures in emergencies, like preventing a satellite crash. Her journey concluded with gratitude toward Mana for helping her embrace connection and joy.
