Mirage belonged to the Knights of the Ashen Flame, a faction within the White Clad. He infiltrated Special Fire Force Company 3 as a spy alongside Flail before fully embracing the White Clad’s cause. His appearance included pupil-less eyes and a complete absence of eyebrows. As a Fire Soldier, he wore standard bunker gear, later switching to the White Clad’s white attire, including a burka. A Third Generation pyrokinetic, Mirage manipulated surrounding air temperature. By creating drastic differences between lower hot air and upper cool air, he generated light refraction to craft realistic illusions. He displayed considerable stamina, creating and maintaining thirty-three clones simultaneously while replacing them continuously without Overheat. He also generated dense fog to conceal himself or isolate combatants. His Ignition Ability directly inspired his codename. Mirage debuted as an antagonist during the Vulcan’s Workshop arc. Under Giovanni’s orders, he and Flail attacked the workshop disguised as an Infernal incident. Mirage confronted Arthur Boyle using clones, creating an illusion of Arthur to stun him and enable Flail’s strike. When Shinra Kusakabe arrived, Mirage blocked the workshop entrance with clones, though Shinra evaded them. Hibana extinguished many clones, and after the workshop explosion, Mirage retreated into the Netherworld with other White Clad members. He reappeared prominently in the Netherworld arc. Combining fog and illusions with Jonah’s powers, he separated Company 8 members. He targeted Takehisa Hinawa, observing Hinawa’s fight against Arrow before engaging. To provoke Hinawa, Mirage conjured an illusion of his deceased friend Tōjō. Using fog for cover and an illusion to mask his position, he attempted a surprise attack. Arthur Boyle detected him and intervened. Mirage deployed multiple clones to overwhelm Arthur, but Arthur saw through the illusions and struck him down with Excalibur. Mirage collapsed in disbelief. His story concluded in the Great Cataclysm arc. After the second Great Cataclysm, Shinra Kusakabe rewound time to undo the catastrophe and reshape reality. This resurrected Mirage alongside others who had perished. Mirage employed deception and opportunism in combat, using clones and fog to disorient enemies for knife attacks or to let allies strike first. He capitalized on weakened opponents, prioritizing strategy over direct confrontation. His partnership with Flail established a dynamic where Mirage provided illusions and Flail acted as the physical threat. He later operated alongside Yona, maintaining his pattern of collaborating with cautious, deceptive allies. After his Netherworld defeat and before the Great Cataclysm, his White Clad status remained unresolved, though his resurrection returned him to the restored world.
