Description
Kotori Otonashi works as an office clerk and secretary for 765 Production. She possesses short green hair, brown eyes, and a distinctive mole near her mouth, frequently obscured by her yellow microphone headset or hairband. Her typical outfit features a white dress shirt, a black and green vest, a large purple or yellow ribbon bowtie, a black skirt, black stockings, and white high-heeled shoes. Standing 159 cm tall and weighing 49 kg, she was born on September 9 with blood type AB. Her hobbies include watching television, daydreaming, and browsing internet forums like 2chan—a habit that sometimes leads others to label her a pervert. Though her exact age is unspecified, contextual clues imply she is in her early twenties, likely older than colleague Azusa Miura.

Kotori exhibits an open-minded and intelligent personality with occasional shyness. During slow work periods, she may nap or indulge in elaborate daydreams, including fujoshi fantasies as shown in THE iDOLM@STER MOVIE. She harbors a minor crush on the Producer, occasionally asking him to treat her to dinner or drinks. Despite not being an idol, she enjoys singing. Kotori shares a close bond with company president Junichiro Takagi. Her family background connects to a former idol; a Megami magazine interview identifies her mother as Kotomi Otonashi, visible in a historical photo with Takagi and colleagues—a connection further explored in the Asayake wa Koganeiro manga.

In the Puchim@s series, Kotori debuts in Episode 8: "A Variety of Body Types," adopting the miniature Puchidol Piyopiyo, whom she deems exceptionally cute. Unlike Kotori, Piyopiyo excels at secretarial tasks without sharing her nosebleeds or delusional tendencies. Kotori often engages in comedic scenarios, like attempting coffee with milk instead of cream or reacting with a nosebleed to Chihya eating bread cutely. She joins Yayoi Takatsuki and Miki Hoshii in kotatsu gatherings, drawing reprimands from Ritsuko Akizuki for encouraging idleness—a recurring gag where Ritsuko or Chicchan scolds her for frivolous activities.

Her Puchim@s presence extends to Season 2, Episode 127: "Kotori Otonashi's Entourage," where she visits an island with Miki Hoshii, Azusa Miura, and their Puchidols to photograph them. Piyopiyo is absent here, replaced by Miurasan. Kotori films the group, including scenes where Azusa photographs her holding a beer. This episode, partially adapted from Puchimasu! manga Volume 5, Chapter 49A, uses traditional animation and marks Afu's summer form debut.
