Zuruko Sasuga, who also goes by the nickname Tigerlily Sakai in certain regions, is the cousin of Yuna Kamihara. She debuts in episode 46. In public, Zuruko carries herself as an attractive and athletic individual, notably adept with the naginata and mindful of her fashion choices. Privately, however, she reveals a rude and selfish nature. This sly, manipulative behavior inspired Yuna to call her "Zuru-ko." She treats people roughly and has exhibited the unusual capacity to comprehend and speak Stitch's alien language. Like Yuna, she fears thunder. Multiple characters develop romantic interest in her, including Kouji, Taka, Masa, and Mr. Honda. Following the closure of Izayoi Elementary School, she transfers to a different elementary school near Okinawa New Town, prompting a move into a detached house on the outskirts of New Town with Yuna and Stitch. She has been classmates with Takumi's twin sisters, Mitsuki and Hazuki, since junior high. During the series' third season, her character evolves, displaying a less cunning and somewhat softened personality.
