OVA
Description
Blues, the first robot prototype created by Dr. Light preceding Mega Man and Roll, possessed a critical flaw in his energy core destined to cause permanent shutdown. Choosing to preserve his independence and identity, he refused repairs and departed Dr. Light's laboratory. Later discovered by Dr. Wily, Blues was repaired, receiving a nuclear power core conversion. Wily equipped him with a signature visor and Proto Shield to conceal his identity and mitigate his core vulnerability. This repair created a debt, leading Blues into temporary service under Wily, though he eventually opposed the doctor upon recognizing his own nature.
Within the OVA narrative, Blues operates independently. He intervenes specifically to assist Mega Man against Dr. Wily's schemes, rescuing him when overwhelmed by enemies and delivering essential weapons like the Charge Kick. His assistance is consistently indirect and immediate; he departs swiftly after providing aid, avoiding prolonged collaboration or dialogue. Blues maintains a distant yet protective stance toward Mega Man, embodying his lone-wolf persona. His appearances are frequently heralded by a distinctive whistle, a consistent trait across media.
During a Japanese cultural festival, Blues appears briefly alongside Beat, strictly observing events without direct participation. He is subsequently captured by Dr. Wily during another incident, necessitating rescue by Mega Man and Roll. His interactions remain minimal throughout, emphasizing his enduring preference for solitude, even when aligned with the protagonists' objectives. Blues' role remains supportive yet intentionally detached, focused solely on pivotal interventions rather than sustained alliances.
