Description
Miu Asakura endured emotional abuse and family conflicts in childhood, leading to persistent sorrow directed at her. She escaped into books, especially fantasy stories, sharing them with classmates as personal truths and facing ridicule. Her situation changed when classmate Konoha Inoue believed her stories, forging a close friendship built on these shared narratives. As her original tales ran out, she plagiarized existing works without Konoha's knowledge.

Her attachment to Konoha grew possessive, manifesting in harmful actions to isolate him. This included killing his pet bird during a visit and spreading lies to sabotage his relationships, such as falsely claiming sexual encounters to provoke rejection. Her behavior escalated upon discovering Konoha won a writing contest under the pseudonym "Miu Inoue," a deception she perceived as theft of her dreams. This triggered a suicide attempt by jumping off the school roof, leaving Konoha traumatized and Miu hospitalized.

Years later, during hospitalization, Miu resumed manipulation efforts upon Konoha's high school enrollment. She orchestrated mysterious letters via a younger student to unsettle him. Their reunion involved renewed attempts to discredit his friends and maintain control, alongside confrontations exposing her plagiarism and resentment. Amidst deteriorating mental health, she expressed hatred toward Konoha and attempted suicide again at the rooftop, imploring him to join her. Intervention by Tooko Amano prevented their deaths, though Miu subsequently ran into traffic in another attempt, surviving with injuries.

A physical altercation with Nanase Kotobuki led Miu to confess her obsessive desire to monopolize Konoha, revealing deep-seated emotional dependency. Tooko facilitated a pivotal dialogue at an observatory, invoking literary themes and Konoha's unpublished story to reframe Miu's understanding of happiness. This prompted Miu to recall her childhood aspiration of bringing joy through writing, contrasting her self-perception as "foulness and darkness." Konoha's declaration of love and gratitude catalyzed her acceptance of past actions. She resolved to live independently, apologizing for her behavior and committing to self-reliance.

Following this transformation, Miu developed a romantic relationship with Kazushi Akutagawa. A six-year time skip reveals her volunteering at a children's center, indicating sustained personal growth.

The OVA *Memoir II* explores her middle school years through Konoha's perspective, depicting early emotional manipulation, the avian killing incident, and the events precipitating her suicide attempt, including her discovery of Konoha's contest victory, reinforcing the roots of her psychological struggles and the formative impact of their dynamic.

Her physical appearance included orange hair and red eyes, with a signature long ponytail in middle school that she cut short after her suicide attempt, symbolizing a break from her past identity.
