Description
Tōko Amano is the president of her high school's literature club and a year older than Konoha Inoue. Her unique supernatural trait is her consumption of literature by physically eating the pages of books, as ordinary food has no taste for her. She recruits Konoha into the club after he discovers her eating a novel, securing his silence and gaining a steady supply of written stories, which she calls her "snacks."
She has long black hair often worn in braids, pale skin, and dark eyes, lending her a refined and somewhat old-fashioned demeanor. She favors the color violet, a preference visible in personal items like her umbrella. Beyond her paper-eating quirk, she possesses a deep and authentic passion for literature, enthusiastically discussing literary works and assigning Konoha specific themes for his impromptu writings during club meetings.
Tōko holds romantic feelings for Konoha but ultimately chooses to leave him. This decision is partly informed by her knowledge of his hidden past as the author Miu Inoue, a secret she learned from her deceased mother's friend, who was involved in judging the manuscript for Konoha's book. Having been his first fan, she waited patiently for his return to writing.
Her childhood was marked by tragedy when her parents died in a car accident when she was eight. Before their deaths, her mother wrote original stories for her, which were her primary source of snacks. After their loss, Tōko experienced profound loneliness until she met Konoha, as she found no one else who could provide comparable handwritten stories.
Despite her often whimsical and literature-obsessed exterior, she displays moments of perceptiveness and wisdom, particularly regarding emotional matters and Konoha's struggles. Her actions, including creating distance despite her feelings, reveal a complex inner conflict between her own desires and her understanding of Konoha's need to confront his past.
