Description
Kanzou Mogi is a dedicated member of the Japanese Task Force investigating the Kira case. A tall and broad-shouldered man with short black hair, he typically dresses in a formal suit and maintains a reserved, silent demeanor that rarely reveals his thoughts. Even when he agrees with an opinion, he seldom voices it directly, preferring observation over dialogue.
Born on September 13, his abilities as an investigator are considerable. He is recognized by L as an invaluable asset in intelligence gathering and demonstrates remarkable efficiency, such as when he processes a massive volume of documents related to the Yotsuba Group in an exceptionally short time. Beyond his investigative skills, Mogi is capable in practical matters including cooking and housework. Despite his quiet nature, he possesses a notable talent for acting, which becomes evident during the Yotsuba Group infiltration. After Touta Matsuda stages his death, Mogi adopts the alias Kankichi Moji and assumes the role of Misa Amane's manager, performing with an uncharacteristically enthusiastic and cheerful personality that contrasts sharply with his usual stoic self.

Despite sustained pressure from both Near and Mello, Mogi remains completely silent as Light had prepared him beforehand, resisting all attempts to make him divulge information about the Task Force. When the SPK is attacked by Kira supporters, Mogi escapes alongside them. Near subsequently falsely announces Mogi's death, a deception that successfully prompts Shuichi Aizawa to share critical information about the Task Force's suspicions regarding Light.
