TV Special
Description
Yuri Nakao manages the Seishu High School baseball club and is the daughter of the team's coach. Her visible distress following the team's loss, specifically crying over the defeat, directly motivates Katsuya Niimi and Susumu Karasawa to join the struggling team with the initial goal of making her smile, establishing her as a key emotional catalyst. The baseball club faces shutdown without victories, jeopardizing her father's coaching position before new talent like pitcher Eiji Kurahashi arrives, placing Yuri at the center of the team's struggles due to her familial connection.
A significant romantic subplot develops between Yuri and Katsuya Niimi, one of the new players who joined after seeing her upset. This relationship encounters complications when Yukimi Yasuda, a star track athlete who knew Katsuya in middle school, transfers to Seishu and actively pursues him, creating tension with Yuri. Furthermore, Kentarō Yamanaka, the ace pitcher of rival Bunan High School and Yuri's childhood friend, re-enters her life and becomes a romantic rival for Katsuya after their reunion. Kentarō's younger sister, Chimi Yamanaka, attempts to mediate between Yuri and Kentarō.
Yuri's role connects directly to the team's central goal of improving performance to compete at the national championship tournament, Kōshien. The narrative follows her alongside Katsuya, Susumu, and pitcher Eiji Kurahashi as the team works towards this objective during their high school years.
