Description
Rito Yūki is the central male protagonist. He possesses orange-brown hair and gold-brown eyes, stands 164.5 cm tall, and weighs 62 kg. Born October 16th under the Libra sign, he attends Sainan High School, advancing from class 1-A to 2-A. His family includes his younger sister Mikan Yūki, parents Saibai and Ringo Yūki, and later the adopted alien child Celine.

Profoundly kind, selfless, and thoughtful towards others, Rito repeatedly demonstrates courage by risking his life to protect friends. This includes shielding Lala Satalin Deviluke from her bodyguards, defending Haruna Sairenji from threats like Ghi Bree, and journeying to dangerous planets to aid Celine or confront Golden Darkness's (Yami) tormentors. Despite this bravery, he struggles with low self-esteem, rarely acknowledging his positive actions while obsessively focusing on errors. His humility and loyalty create strong charisma, enabling friendships with diverse individuals, including initially hostile characters like Yami and Mea Kurosaki, whom he helps overcome traumatic pasts. He deeply respects all life, extending care to plants, animals, and artificially created beings, evident in his tending of school gardens and animal rescues.

Rito's defining trait is extreme clumsiness around women, fueled by intense innocence and nervousness in provocative situations. This triggers frequent accidental groping, falls onto intimate body parts, or clothing malfunctions involving multiple female characters simultaneously. These entirely unintentional incidents lead to widespread perceptions of him as a pervert. Mikado Saten diagnoses this as "Cataplectic Indecency Syndrome," attributing it to repressed libido manifesting physically due to Rito's intense restraint. He also exhibits sexsomnia, unconsciously fondling others like Momo Belia Deviluke during sleep while dreaming of food like marshmallows.

Historically skilled at soccer, Rito quit in junior high to support his father's manga career and care for Mikan. He excels at "useless little things" such as festival games, crane machines, and horticulture. Childhood events shaped key relationships: rescuing a cat altered Yui Kotegawa's negative view of boys, while a junior high connection with Haruna established his longstanding crush. His life transforms when alien princess Lala teleports into his bathtub; after he inadvertently gropes her during a fall, she proposes engagement to evade political marriages, citing his speech about marriage requiring love.

Romantically, Rito is initially devoted to Haruna but gradually develops genuine affection for Lala. By the original series' conclusion, he confesses love for both, with Lala accepting a polygamous arrangement under Devilukean law once he becomes king. In the sequel, Momo Deviluke—secretly in love with him—orchestrates a "harem plan" to include all admirers, believing collective happiness hinges on Rito. His emotional conflicts intensify as more girls, including Yami, Yui, and Run/Ren Elise Jewelria, develop feelings. A pivotal moment occurs when Nemesis, temporarily fused with him, manipulates circumstances to facilitate mutual confessions between Rito and Haruna.

Rito occasionally transforms into a female alter-ego named Riko Yuusaki, attracting male attention—particularly from friend Saruyama—forcing reluctant engagements. His physical capabilities include high agility and immunity to Charmian powers, though he remains otherwise human. His "love troubles" persist indefinitely amid ongoing alien entanglements and interpersonal complexities.
