TV-Series
Description
Haruna Sairenji attends Sainan High School as a second-year student. She lives independently in Sainan Town with her older sister Akiho, following her parents' relocation for work when Haruna was thirteen. Her family consists of father Fuyuhiko, mother Natsumi, and sister Akiho, their names collectively representing the four seasons. She owns a pet dog named Maron.

Her personality blends kindness, responsibility, and patience. Classmates frequently elect her as class representative without prompting, trusting her reliable nature. She remains polite, particularly towards Rito Yuuki, usually forgiving his accidental inappropriate behavior swiftly, though fear sometimes triggers a reaction where she slaps him. A defining trait is her intense fear of ghosts and the supernatural, with the sole exception of the ghost Oshizu Murasame. When terrified, she instinctively seizes the nearest object—often Rito—swinging it as an improvised weapon with surprising strength.

Physically, Haruna possesses blue-violet hair secured by a red vertical hairpin on the left side, purple eyes, and notably soft skin. Her measurements are B78-W55-H80 (or B79-W56-H82 in some sources), and her height is 160 cm. While considered attractive, she feels inferior about her physique compared to peers like Lala or Yui. She is left-handed and participates actively in the school tennis club.

Her connection with Rito started in junior high as classmates. She first noticed him after he contributed to his class winning a school festival. When their school garden was vandalized and Rito was falsely accused, Haruna defended his innocence, citing his known care for gardens. Unbeknownst to her, Rito overheard this defense, sparking his feelings. This incident also marked the origin of her own attraction to his kind nature.

Throughout the series, Haruna and Rito repeatedly fail to confess their mutual feelings due to interruptions, often involving Lala Satalin Deviluke. Early on, Rito’s attempted confession to Haruna is misinterpreted as directed at Lala. Though developing romantic feelings for Rito, Haruna suppresses them out of loyalty to Lala, her close friend. Eventually encouraged by Lala, Haruna confesses her feelings to her, and Lala accepts it as a friendly rivalry for Rito’s affection.

In the sequel *To Love Ru Darkness*, Lala suggests that if Rito becomes King of Deviluke, polygamy laws would permit him to marry both Haruna and Lala. This idea initially embarrasses Haruna but leads her to privately fantasize about intimate scenarios with Rito. A pivotal moment occurs when Rito accidentally activates a device that shrinks them both, resulting in their first unintended kiss while hiding from Maron. Later, after defending Rito publicly, she confesses her love in a gym storage room, and he reciprocates. They mutually agree to postpone pursuing a relationship.

When panicked, Haruna exhibits surprising abilities, including superhuman strength to lift and throw people or objects. She adapts skills creatively, like applying tennis techniques to wield a sword in a virtual game. Her leadership calms others during crises.

Notably, Oshizu once possessed her character, causing uncharacteristic behavior such as openly groping friends and a false rooftop confession to Rito. This possession ended when Oshizu explained her fear of dogs prompted it.
