Nozomi Kasuga is a high school student at Ikai High School and a classmate of Ouri Kagami. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she accompanies a group of friends to investigate a reportedly haunted apartment known as the man-eating house. There, she is attacked and injured by a group of shikabane, the undead creatures that plague the world of Corpse Princess. She is rescued by Makina Hoshimura, the Corpse Princess herself, who eliminates the attackers. This harrowing experience leaves a deep impression on Nozomi, fundamentally altering her perception of death. Instead of fearing it, she becomes fascinated by the concept of death and the supernatural world she has glimpsed.
