Description
Ryūichirō Isaka serves as Senior Managing Director at Marukawa Publishing, later advancing to President. His laid-back and occasionally indecisive demeanor during meetings contrasts sharply with his subordinates' serious attitudes, sometimes causing frustration.

Born into privilege as the son of Marukawa's owner, Isaka's childhood included a pivotal event: his family intervened to prevent Kaoru Asahina's family suicide following Asahina's father's bankruptcy, taking them in. Initially behaving like a "brat," Isaka developed protective feelings upon seeing Asahina bruised and bandaged. He gifted Asahina an Amadokoro plant—symbolizing "cheer up" in flower language—eliciting Asahina's first post-trauma smile.

Isaka harbored long-term romantic feelings for Asahina but misinterpreted Asahina's profound gratitude toward Isaka's father as romantic affection, believing his own love unrequited. Asahina later clarified he had loved Isaka since childhood, specifically citing the Amadokoro gift as the catalyst. The couple resolved this misunderstanding, entered a relationship, and celebrated their 10-year anniversary during the series. Their pairing is officially titled "Junjou Mistake" or "Junjou Mystique" due to this romantic confusion.

Professionally, Isaka abandoned writing aspirations after discovering Akihiko Usami's manuscript and recognizing superior talent. Redirecting his focus to editing, he scouted Usami for Marukawa. Despite workplace nepotism gossip, Isaka leveraged editorial skills to transform obscure authors into commercial successes, proving his capabilities independent of family ties. He later advised Ritsu Onodera to embrace rather than resent his familial background.

Isaka appears across interconnected media, featuring in a *Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi* episode exploring his relationship with Asahina and surfacing in *Junjou Romantica* as a supporting character, reinforcing both series' shared universe. His interactions remain consistent, including referring to Ritsu Onodera as "Nanahikari" and maintaining his relaxed management style.
