Description
Madoka Kugimiya is a student in Class 2/3-A at Mahora Academy and one of its three cheerleaders alongside Misa Kakizaki and Sakurako Shiina, belonging to the Mahora Cheerleader Club. She possesses dark violet hair and grey eyes, stands 160 cm tall, and weighs 72.6 kg, with measurements of bust 81 cm, waist 56 cm, and hips 81 cm. Born on March 3, 1989, she is a Pisces with blood type AB.

Her personality is serious and protective; she often acts as the responsible figure preventing the other cheerleaders, especially Sakurako, from mischief. She enjoys gyuudon from Matsuya, silver accessories, and Western music, particularly favoring Avril Lavigne. She dislikes playboys and feels self-conscious about her husky voice, which sometimes becomes a minor fixation. Classmates frequently call her "Kugimi," a nickname she dislikes.

Madoka develops a small crush on Kotarou Inugami after he appears as a teenager during the school festival. She is very protective of her friends and encourages Ako Izumi to be more confident. This leads her to pressure a shy Ako during the Live Mahora Concert to confess her love for Negi Springfield’s teenage alias, "Nagi," in front of an audience; the event nearly results in Ako being shot, though she only asks for an email address. During the "Mars vs. Mages" game, Madoka is among the first casualties when a robot’s strip beam blasts off her clothes.

In the overall story conclusion, she assists Negi Springfield in saving his father, Nagi Springfield, and defeating the Mage of the Beginning. The epilogue reveals her working as a firm government official at elevator customs, a job she finds tough, though the development of Mahora allows her to have fun without traveling far. She also exhibits an attraction to anyone with black hair and dog ears.

Across adaptations, her role varies. In the manga and first anime, her Pactio artifact, obtained with the other cheerleaders, provides an energizing cheer power. In the *Negima!?* anime, her character aligns more closely with the other cheerleaders' actions. During the "Suka incident," she transforms into a black panther. Her cosplay form dresses her as a prisoner with a metal sphere attached to her leg and a hammer as a weapon. Her armor form is based on Saki Asamiya from *Sukeban Deka*, and she wields a metallic yo-yo.

In the *ANIME FINAL*, after the revelation that Class 3-A students must have their memories of Negi and magic erased, she is chosen as one of Negi’s partners and helps in an effort to stop Mars from crashing into Earth.

She appears in the spin-off *UQ Holder!* in Chapter 139, within an alternate timeline following Asuna Kagurazaka’s return from the future, alongside Sakurako and Misa, seeking out Evangeline A.K. McDowell to discuss the fight between Negi and the Mage of the Beginning.

In various fan-made and crossover wiki appearances, such as the All Worlds Alliance Wiki and Josh's Adventures Wiki, she is sometimes depicted as a student at other institutions like AWA Academy or as a Pokémon trainer with an Oricorio, a Toucannon, and a Meowstic.
