Description
Gatto is a deceptive anthropomorphic cat who partners with Volpe the fox to manipulate Pinocchio. As part of their signature ploy, Gatto affects blindness to appear vulnerable and elicit sympathy, while Volpe feigns lameness. This calculated presentation of disabilities lowers Pinocchio's guard and fosters false trust.

The duo first intercepts Pinocchio after he departs the Great Marionette Theatre carrying five gold coins. They convince him to plant his coins in the mythical Field of Miracles near Catchfools, promising they will multiply into a tree of wealth. En route, they stop at the Red Lobster Inn, where Gatto and Volpe manipulate Pinocchio into paying for their lavish meal before abandoning him with instructions to meet later.

Despite warnings from the ghost of the Talking Cricket, Pinocchio continues toward Catchfools. Gatto and Volpe then disguise themselves as bandits and ambush him in a forest. During the violent struggle, Pinocchio bites off Gatto's paw to escape. Gatto survives this injury and remains partnered with Volpe.

Following the failed robbery, Gatto and Volpe later find Pinocchio again and remind him about the Field of Miracles. Pinocchio agrees to plant his coins, but the pair steals them immediately after he buries the gold and departs. A parrot subsequently mocks Pinocchio for trusting them, confirming the theft's success.
