Description
Tabitha, secretly Princess Charlotte Helene Orléans de Gallia, is the daughter of Charles, Duke de Orléans, and niece of King Joseph de Gallia. Her father's assassination during a Gallian civil war over succession allowed Joseph to seize the throne. Subsequently, Joseph deliberately poisoned her mother with the Potion of Lost Heart, inducing permanent insanity. Her mother then recognized only Charlotte's childhood doll—named Tabitha—as her true daughter, rejecting Charlotte as an intruder. This trauma led Charlotte to adopt the name Tabitha, transforming her from a lively child into a withdrawn and emotionally reserved individual.
As a student at Tristain Academy of Magic, Tabitha presented as a quiet, stoic figure who rarely spoke and was often seen reading books. Her minimal social interactions contrasted with her closest friend, Kirche von Zerbst, though their bond strengthened after Kirche learned of Tabitha's past. Tabitha specialized in wind and water magic, later advancing to ice magic, and wielded a curved staff for spellcasting. Initially a Triangle-class mage, she achieved Square-class level during combat against the elf Bidalsha. Her familiar was Sylphid, a blue wind rhyme dragon capable of human transformation who posed as her younger sister, Illococoo.
Joseph exploited Tabitha by assigning lethal missions, such as slaying a three-headed dragon, intending for her to die. Her success earned her the rank of Chevalier, though Joseph blocked further promotions. Later, Sheffield blackmailed her into betraying Louise and capturing her, leading to a near-fatal confrontation with Saito. Mission failure resulted in the revocation of her knighthood, and Joseph imprisoned her, attempting to force the Potion of Lost Heart upon her. She was rescued by Saito, Louise, and their allies, an event that facilitated her emotional reconnection and burgeoning feelings for Saito. During the final battle against Sheffield, Tabitha kissed Saito to reignite Louise's void magic, indirectly triggering her mother's brief moment of lucidity.
Following Joseph's defeat, Tabitha was proclaimed heir to Gallia's throne. However, Romalia manipulated her into supporting a crusade by impersonating Saito. Her reign as Queen Charlotte de Gallia was interrupted by the revelation of a twin sister, Josette, secretly sent to a monastery at birth due to Gallian traditions requiring one twin's death. Josette, Gallia's Void successor after Joseph, replaced Tabitha as queen under papal influence. After rescue from imprisonment, Tabitha permanently relinquished the throne to Josette. She obtained a potion restoring her mother's sanity and postponed her coronation to reside with Saito at his De Ornielle estate alongside Louise and Siesta.
In spin-off media, Tabitha undertook additional missions for Joseph, including confronting winged forest-dwelling people and eliminating a vampire. These missions highlighted her pragmatic approach to violence as a necessary duty. She also encountered a sentient dagger named Undercurrent, which revealed Isabella's assassination attempts and publicly humiliated her. Another mission involved retrieving a runaway student from a Gallian magic academy, where she encountered blood-absorbing replicant dolls.
